Hi...my name is Paul.

Since this is a public forum, I just like to say this: comfort is quite a subjective issue. Some pple don't really mind some hardness in their ride or slight loss in cornering power in the rain. If this is you the Bridgestone 001 Adrenalin is a terrific tire.

If you value a plush luxurious ride and all weather premium grip, look no further than the PZero and Michelin PS2. The CSC3 is also very good but it is prone to nails or sharp objects for some reason.

Paul (happy owner of BMW 523 -2005):top:

PS2 very grippy, but price also very steep. 245/40/18 around RM 1200 a piece.
Full of confidence during hard cornering, no worries.

Changed my fronts 2 weeks back to CSC2 (not 3) 235/40/18 at RM 820 a piece.
Not too confident la, but maybe just psychology only.

Comfort? Can't tell much. To me 18" all the same what, not too comfy.

Next time? Back to PS2 if got enough RM$ ....

say NO to timewasters and no to dangerous tyres

Been reading this forum for a month and so few helpful replies come in. ehh i been to other bmw forums and they havemore response than here.
sorrly i don mean to sidetrack here or waste time. so my answer to u and others looking for decent bmw calibre tyres are: pirreli P 0 nero and michellin pilot sport2.
in my opinion, michellin pp2 and Falken 452 are for people who dont have much money. not that there is anything wrong with that.
my friend said the F452 grip better in the wet than M pp2. His is a 520 E60.

i am base in subang /taipan. i use to own 320. after 5 month i sell. no power lah. now i drive 328. so much better. i change my tayar to bridgestone 050 from michelin pilot precedda II. the grip is much better in the rain and dry weather.

sorry for sidetracking u all but my recomende tayar are: bridgestone 050, pirreli rosso and continental sport contact 3(boleh beli dari singapura)

This tayar i stay away from:afraid: :afraid: :afraid:
michhelin pilot sport 2 (subang to KL; $$$$ last only about 6months +)
continental sport contact 2 (quiet but not so good dalam hujan )
bridgestone GIII, MY-01 (bising bising )
pirreli p7 (bising kuat)
adrenalin 001 (scary in rain puddles)

tq for letting me write:67:

I was using Pilot Sport 2 last year. I paid RM1100 kedai papan -Ban Hooi. Confident driving under 130kph. Quite comfy and fairly quiet.
They wore out after 9 months usage. I had very little money. So I tried the Michelin Pilot Preceda 2. What a lousy crappy tyre this turned out to be. Cornering is worse (in dry or rain) than the Falken452. After 3 months I trade in the junky PP 2 tyre for the new Falken 452.

My new Falken 452 has made my car virile and grippy once again.
A neighbour who also has a 523 like me changed from Continental Sport Contact 2 to Bridgestone Potenza RE050A. The result is better grip wet or dry! Seem fairly quiet too.

I believe his car drives more confidently with that sticky steering feel than mine now but my tyres cost only half of his! :thefinger:

"Selamat Hari Raya and Happy Deepavalli to all".
from Alex. ...drive safely

From what I read the Falken 452 is a great performance tyre, but sacrifices a little on comfort and noise... 2 things which I like a lot :). I opted for the PP2 over the 452 on the wife's Jazz which looses out on performance to the 452 but is quieter. I think its good enough on the car to replace the ageing Bridgestone RE040's which came with the car. The RE040's are also much noisier than the PP2s.

More on Tyres

I agree with E46, Juan, Cosmonaut and Azmi.

I am familiar with the old 040..good grip but terribly noisy. The Potenza 050 is excellent for grip but uncomfortable in the long run for the family. I am impressed by the newF452. Trouble is some old Falkens are notorious for noise and wear.

So some people are scared to try just like when I had my first Continental CSC2. It was very quiet comfy but unpredictably scary in the rain. Continental would have to really impress me again before I can consider them again.

Another possible great tyre is fairly new Yokohama Advan 103. On a new Lexus, the car drove very quiet and had surprisingly great handling:18: .

I need a comfortable quiet but gripy tire . . .

Michellin PS2, Yokohama Avan Sporrt V 103, Falken 912, Continenntal Sport 3, Toyo T 1 R

Anyone pleaese help me? XXX can help?

I would love to help you but my knowledge not as indepth as samsam or some of the others who have parted their inputs, but for me if you have the budget PS2 is the way to go..as all along my ride has been on Michelin Pilot Sport so I have got no comments on the newer tyres that are in the market...but like I said earlier of all the tyres I have used nothing has come close to PS2 other than the slick tyres on my track car...this one stick like crazy and very quiet bcos the exhaust sound very loud cannot here the tyre sound..kakakkakak

Mr Lee it would be nice if you can introduce yourself in the newbies section..

I finally tried but still have not bought

Yes I finally tried but it was on a EVO car. His car was on Toyo T1 R before.

For the benefit of other participating forumers, here is my personal rating:

Toyo T1r vs Michelin PS 2 (Out of 10)

grip: 6/8
quiet:7/5
comfort:7/5
cornering:6/8
steering feel:5/8

Sorry buddies, it wasnt raining so my grip rating is only base for dry weather.

I wish other forumers could write more details rather than a one liner so I and maybe many others can have a better insight of the characteristics of their favourite tyres.

would like to help you

Like to help you but looks like I am on the same boat searching.
But after reading again, I think I am on the plane.

Caruthers,
Thanks for the tip. Goodluck at Astro.

I am impartial to your personal taste.
But after reading this whole thread, I realised that no one has mentioned about the problem with buying a low profile tire.

The biggest hurdle is is your car is too low, low profile will make your car even lower. Some cars without modified lowered springs will still scrapped some of those bigger speed bumps.

I think XXX :date: (kclee's pal) liked his Michelin PS2 mainly because of the overall grip it has. Even tires like CSC2 Continental (low profile tire) will cause any large car to scrap it's bottom on some bumps.

...something to think of before handing out your cash:smokin:

Of all the tayar u mentioned, V103 will last the shortest. I was told it becomes noisy after 2000km.

I think xxx is currently using PS 2. I don know if he said it was quiet or comfy or not. I do not recall what his previous tayar was. Maybe xxx can explain himself.

I agree with Vegatron. Using ultra low profile tayar can make your car touch the bumps. You got to be slow+ careful going over them otherwise don't use low profile tayar.

I had a problem with my ex-E46 bottoming out at high bumps even with a conservative M-Tech II and 17" set-up but surprisingly with my E92, I don't have this problem at all with M-setting and 18". I understand a lot of E90 owners are also experiencing this positive development in newer BMWs i.e. they are more well-made to accommodate low profile tyres.
