How about Hankook RS2, Maxxis MA-V1, Toyo T1R and Dunlop Sportmaxx. I believe these tyres are cheaper than PP2 or PS2.....

Noise and grip wise?

something strange goin on here...

hello to everybody here
why so few forumers are replying to this issue is strange.

someone ask my name...siapa kau?

wat about the original person who posed the question? does he not deserve to be helped or answered at least?

More choices to consider... Bridgestone Potenza RE050, Continental ContiSportsContact3... this Conti is a performance tyre, but the refinement is there: not that noisy, pretty soft ride too, good grip, haven't pushed to the limit yet, I am running the CSC3 now on my E36, luckily I didn't take the raw hardcore Yoko Advan Neova AD07, which I am running also, but on my all-out Satria. The RE050 is a comfort-tuned performance tyre.

Hafta agree that generally the European tyres are much more refined compared to Jap tyres, IMHO the European tyres are more suitable for continental cars.

Im running on Ventus S1 evo by hankook size 225/40/18 on my e46 ci. Very happy with the grip and noise level. Previously had potenza G3 and found this tires are comparable and cheaper too.

going to buy Nexen tyres today. (Korean brand owned by Michelin) recieved good reviews from UK and US at half the price of Toyo. will let you know how it turns out.

real excellent tires:

 :43:  :48: :43:  :48: :43:  :48:
these are the ranked top all rounders! (comfy and excellent grip wet&dry)
Michelin PS 2
Michelin Premacy
Falken 452
Bridgestone 050R

:eek:  forget bridgestone adrenalin, mich pp2, dunlop formula d-01, michelin energy, continental 1, sime, silverstone, toyo t1r.
all these tires are good in a couple of aspects only but have some major drawbacks like scary wet grip or too noisy or too much uneasy feel when driving on msian rough roads.

Who are u??

Ok....but

Good morning guys,

From the very few relevant replies I gotten, I think I should consider Bridgestone 050R or Falken 452 or Michelin PS 2.

I think Michelin PS 2 cost double of Falken 452. I am not sure how much the Brigestone 050R cost.:dontknow:

Decent grip for safety and comfy quietness are my priorities. Which of the tires mentioned above is closer to my ideal tire?

..I was just discussing abt the pricing for PS2 the other day with the tire shop people, compared with the japanese tyres, and they told me this the Japanese tyres last 3 months but the Ps2 last 6 months...you go do the maths.. a point to ponder actually.

Wah 3 months and 6 months only?? You must drive like a maniac lol. Anyway, just give the PS2s a try. Everyone I know who has them on has never regretted the decision. Its an excellent performance + comfort tyre. I'm running the Bridgestones RE050A II (RFTs) which came with my car and they are no where as grippy, quiet and supple as the PS2s which I had on my E46.

mrbull... pricing, from cheapest to most expensive...

falken 452 ---> bridgestone 050 ---> csc3 ---> ps2

(i think only, the only other way is csc3 will swap place with bridgestone)

I bankrupt lor if use tyres like that it was just a comparison to say that PS2 can outlast the Japanese tyres which are abt 30% cheaper but for PS2 you pay higher price but the lifespan 30% or more, so it comes to abt the same mah ...but the pain is still in the initial purchase I suppose..

Bridgestone050R & Falken 452 & Michelin PS2

XXX, LCP, Samsam,E46, Caruthers, MrBull, I wouldn't mind any of these tires: Bridgestone050R & Falken 452 & Michelin PS2 on a 7series BMW

I am not sure if the 050R is quieter or more comfy than the Falken 452 or the Michelin PS 2 ! Maybe LCP can shed some light here.

I am certain comfort quiet factor is important as well as wet grip right, DTan?

I know better to stay away from the super hyped Michelin PP2 and Dunlop Formula D-01.

Hi people,

My apologies for the late foray into this thread/discussion.

How about the Goodyear F1? I use the 18s from Germany and have them on my current Ci and have no complaint so far. Dry and wet grip is ok by me and the comfort is as any other 18s that I have used thus far. Durability is above average in my opinion.

I can only comment on CSC3... soft! It's like my spring rate has been reduced. Grip is definitely up there, but have not pushed it to the limit yet... I think it's a well-refined premium performance tyre. It is quiet, for a performance tyre that is... but not as quiet as a comfort tyre...

danger...danger..tayars!!

Yokohama ES501 DB tires- quiet tayar but very unpredictable/deadly in rain
I almost lost control a couple of times driving below 50kph on those highways bends.

Cheap Michellins- ok for quiet but no good grip in heavy rain

Bridgestone- many cheap models are keras in ride comfort area. they last long but boring and forgetable:smokin:

Falkens- the cheaper falkens is quite noisy even tho grip better than cheaper Michelins

Continental- some continental users report buldging on sides and noisy after a short while. I only know first hand my C1 is darn noisy and will never get another one.

Dunlop-Quite ok for low noise level but grip is too many times a let down. (701,702,Dirrenza, D-01) Not competitive like they used to be.

Pirelli- The cheapest 3000 model may be quite noisy but the level of grip in hot or dry weather is much better than many competitors. Go for newer models.

Sime-No need to say lah.:stupid:

Toyo- CT01 flex too much in cornering. It is quite quiet but no good for cornering. The T1R is slightly better but got side effect in very hot weather.

I m on my 5th set of Direzza 101 - 235/45/17 .. and i will swear by it ; rain or shine; high speed or low speed. I will not touch other tires.

BUT - other forummers had some bad experience with it ...
Diff people has diff expectations/driving style/tire pressure etc etc.

:pcguru: The Direzza ressemble the Falken- 452 a lot(touted as the most upsetting tire as many competitors viewed

quite rightly so coz this tire approaches nearly 75% or more of the competition's top tire performances ) so i m not surprised.

my xperience with other dunlops was my former cars. except direzza which is on a mercedes S280. Doesnt seem to corner well as his older pirelli. the pirelli is noiser tho.

who are u? is not the question

G'day to all beemer drivers and happy mooncake day to all !
:dancing2: :thrasher: :dancing: :dancing2: :69:

Mr Antonio:
The Dunlop Direzza may look like the Falken 452 but it ain't a 452 when it comes to wet handling. The only tyre I recollect that is a bit better in the wet is the reknown German made Goodyear F1.

Beemer Drivers & D.Tan,
Between Pirelli Zero Nero and Bridgestone 050, the Pirelli is more comfortable. I tried this on a Lexus in Singapore. Unfortunately, he will have to wait for a while for his Bridgestone 050R to wear out.
From what I hear at enos, falken dealer margin is not as great as some others. Maybe that will help understand why some products are pushed harder than others.
