I has confirmed with SA, the water that gets into the engine comes from the intake at the front bumper. Water shall not submerge the lowest part of the bumper. If you want to drive through water flood area, driving speed shall not be exceeding 10km per hour. If your car stall after dashed through the flood area, never starts the car again, call for help or tow the car back to the garage. If you try to starts the car again, the damage is estimated to be around RM60K !

r*bb**h car .................................................. worst design ever ... i think rain hide better

Great info bro... is it possible for you to take a photo of the air intake locatoon ? Any sifu here who has "overcome" this problem ? Shifted the air intake higher ?

Interested to know too...encountered minor flooding twice in the past months during heavy downpour and my nuts were shrinking while driving thru whilst trying to keep the speedo constant preventing gear changes that might increased air intake suction as per advised.

Bro...I am going to collect my car in Jan, the SA is going to show me the exact location. Once I have this info, will share with everyone here....stay tune...

Nothing much you can do really. Just by additional coverage for flood. It's called Special Perils.
https://www.allianz.com.my/web/ctb/10452/10008
Will cost you 0.005 of the value of your car. For F30 320i is about RM1205. If it's happened to you the insurance will cover all the expenses.
Or Don't drive in heavy rain or puddle
Or sell you F30
Rm 1200++ or 60k. Your choice.

is there any way to modify the intake a bit higher guys?

I don't think so, they have to consider the air intake direction. I had reviewed this issue with my friend who owned a Peugeot car who has the same problem, what he recommended me is, before u drive through the pond of water, remove the filter assembly connection that directly connected to the engine. This will completely remove the water gets into the engine. I am going to collect my car next month, I will ask the service center on how to do this conveniently. On the other hand, I going to buy the Injen Hydroshield to cover the filter. This gives me more protection and confident from this Hydrolock problem.

I just had the same problem last Saturday during heavy rain. my car just broke down inside my condo compound. now I am complaining to BMW Malaysia. Now they say this will not cover under warranty which I told them I did not drive through any flood area. Heavy rain Malaysian road sure got shallow puddle here and there. If this is the case, then F30 cannot drive during heavy rain??

how much did you fix your car??

Will special peril cover you if you drive through a puddle? I'm sure the insurance company will claim that you were negligent by driving through the flood.

Edmund, do you mean u starts the engine while the car is parked at the carpark area ? Based on the recommended spec, water shall not be more than 1 feet height (approx), else water regression will happen which caused your car to be hydrolocked. This was stated in the car manual.
