heavy rain going through huge puddle and splash water cause my bmw f30 320i down

Heavy rain in PJ today caused few places to be flooded especially in Fed Hiway and NPE. Was on the way back frm PJ to Shah Alam and saw a Black F30 stuck in flood water on Fed Hiway near LDP bridge going up towards Kelana Jaya frm Subang. The driver still inside car. ! Hope he's ok though...but man really scary coz its flood everywhere...

I've seen an X1 stalled under the bridge at Fed Hiway to Subang Airport interchange. The flood was 1 to 1.5 ft. My E90 went through coming from Subang to Subang jaya.
That X1 was under the bridge towards Airport. Got higher ground clearance but still stalled. Anything can happen.

so sorry to hear that... i had similar experience- thrice within 6 months period, the latest was elate aug 2013 while driving with my son to klia thru gce... i was doing 80km under heavy rain @ 5.30am when my f30 320i suddenly swerved to left after hitting water pool before b4 bt jelutong toll gate. wonder why. 2nd scare happened near rawang rsa northbound doing 120km, the first experience tok place along eastcoast highwat near lancang. dare not hit high on expressway until i know what was really wrong with the car/ runflat tyres!

Bro, any car will swerve to one side if you hit a water puddle at high speed. It's nothing to do with the design, it's the basic law physics where one wheel is travelling faster then another and caused imbalance and car to swerve. Here in this topic, we are talking about the design of the air intake which is located too low and cause water to enter the air intake and stall the engine when going through flood water.

Bro, any car will swerve to one side if you hit a water puddle at high speed. It's nothing to do with the design, it's the basic law physics where one wheel is travelling faster then another and caused imbalance and car to swerve. Here in this topic, we are talking about the design of the air intake which is located too low and cause water to enter the air intake and stall the engine when going through flood water.

Can we attach a snorkel to the air intake so that the car can breathe going underwater?

Sounds like Seng struggled for 6 months then only he sent his car to his friend's workshop and then problem solved in a day and then he use his car for 6 months and did not encounter any problem. But I look at his first post it was in May 2013 ?? Hahaha. Can someone help interpret Seng's meaning?

He means his car struggling for 6 months, such as having problems, cannot start, stall, engine die off, etc for 6 months, then finally decided to send to his friend's workshop, he put his car in the workshop for less than 1 day, the car's problems solved, and since then he has been driving the car for 6 months, no problem.

For example, his car got this problem in December 2012, but he didnt want to fix it, leave it a home for six months or drive the car with the abovementioned problems for 6 months, then cannot tahan, send to friend's workshop in May/June 2013, problems fixed, then drive for 6 months until today Nov 2013, no problem.

I has confirmed with SA, the water that gets into the engine comes from the intake at the front bumper. Water shall not submerge the lowest part of the bumper. If you want to drive through water flood area, driving speed shall not be exceeding 10km per hour. If your car stall after dashed through the flood area, never starts the car again, call for help or tow the car back to the garage. If you try to starts the car again, the damage is estimated to be around RM60K !
