btw, i think i saw the air intake for the f30... its located at the RHS of the grill facing left.... so i think better not let a lorry over take you from the left during the flood....

Bro, can you take a pic of it so everyone can see it. Thank you.

do u guys feel that its actually G work to ask all manufacturers not to build the car up to par compared to German specs? one reason is to spoil the good name and divert all the sales back to Proton and perodua?
come on , don't blame everything on G ..PLEASE be fair .

Oh my goodness. Really feel sorry for you TS. The charges by BMW is totally absurd. Maybe our fantasti G put excise duty and AP on spare parts as well.. Bas#%^d. Btw tribunal is not the way as any amount above 25k would be referred to court instead. If u planning to gather crowd and make noise you can count me in. Adter reading ur case im now scared shit of driving my car. How to enjoy like that anymore?? Enjoyment turns to paranoid & phobia already. I would first get a non bias expert opinion to see any design flaws and the cause of damage. If i got a case i will go all out to sue them even if it will cost more money. At least puas hati.. We are paying to have a good ride. Not taken for a ride

In Malaysia our cars are subjected to many punishments. Flood la, landslide la, big potholes la, falling trees la, road bullies la, carjacking la, whatever la you can think off can happen in our boleh land.

I think the environmental torture our cars go through exist anywhere. Road conditions are of course far worse if compared to countries like Japan. Even roads in the US or Europe have its fair share of potholes, they have puddles too. The question here is the quality of the cars in Malaysia and how far is the responsibility of the manufacturer here in Malaysia. Well this could actually be an isolated case. Nonetheless, There should never be an excuse for a car of this marque to be so easily affected by external factors like water in a puddle..

IMHO, the car is to serve its owner or driver by providing convenience, comfort and safety.

Besides TS, anyone else faced the same issue with water causing such major breakdown?

I read in the manual, bimmer (not SUV yeah) should not be driven through a water level exceeding 30cm/aprox 1feet.

i realised that the air intake of the F30 is on the right side of the kidney grill.... so if alot of water is coming for the left.... it will practically flood the air intake.... i wonder can we actually inform this "design defect" is not suitable for malaysian roads to BMWM?

Good thoughts, although I think BMW's response would be RTFM

A black F10 just became the next victim in front of my friend's company during the flash flood last evening. The owner still trying hard to ignite the engine that probably create more damage to that F10. Good luck to him

Foolhardy attitude. He's lucky the splashes went to the side. If someone else splashed him then he would've probably ended up like our friend. Having said that though, i've been driving one of our pool 328i F30s for the past 2 weeks and got splashed several (ball shrinking) times. Twice the water hit my bonnet and windscreen. Luckily nothing happened. Makes me wonder if there's more than meets the eye with this guy's car.

My bitter experience:

Got 320i F30 and drove just 5 days (216KM) stopped at Gombak/Selayang area. I was driving from Gombak to KL, turning left towards flyover but shocked with flood (it was raining). 1 Myvi infront of me and 1 Wira behind me, while i was driving slowly follow Myvi, my car suddenly stopped, try to start 2wice but failed. I was still remember my SA advice "Do not drive at flood" which i ignore because Bimmer ego high when looking at MYvi can go through. But immediately after car breakdown, i remember second reminder from SA " do not try to start if F30 breakdown in flood". Ring SA and he arrange tow and i was asked to prepare 20K-30K for any worst case scenario but today (after 5 days) i will bring back my car with just little damage and total expenses is 2K... YES 2K not 20K just because i did not try to force start

Thanks to SA advice and really disapointed with F30. As a bimmer my ego driving 320i down to max after seeing Myvi and wira with can go through the flood while looking at my car with big smile. Car suppose to protect passenger on the road but now i feel that i payed 240K to protect my "shy" car whenever rains

Approximately how deep was the water when your car broke down?
Up to which part of the car was the water reaching?

How deep was the water ?

Were you following the Myvi too closely ?

The water could have been pushed to the front of your car ?

2k to repair ? What did they replace ?
