TS, sorry to hear your problem..
If i'm on your part now i rather tow the car home..
After a few days release from the stress then only settle with the car..

My experience before with naza citra(my other car havent stalled thru flood yet)
going thru flood around bank negara roundabout and the car stalled..
Then i tow the car to workshop and they said the piston/crankshaft jammed..
But a friend ask them to try change the oil first..
After draining the oil and change to new oil and do the flushing,
they slowly pull the mainpulley manually..yes its hard works
but after a few hours and tooks about 4 bottles of oil
the car can start smooth again..
Might this help you..sorry for my bad english..
Take somebody familiar with engine with you to go to the SC

seem you first to last post is condem bmw malaysia , have you call to voice your disgrunt ?

holy mary! this is bad...really bad..and sad :(
i feel u bro! wish all d best with d fixing

my last hear say from friend , bmw will do compression test on engine if its working its a cheap fix , few thousand only. else bye bye. its expensive car ( due to goverment ) does not mean its magically car. that does not mean veyron should be able to fly right at 5 Mil !

ur air filter is at the car bottom there??

my 525i m-sport E60 years 2008 also got this happen before on last years.. engine die suddenly when a truck passby me and splash water on me..

but, i took my car repair at M1 segambut there since the warranty has been expire.. the foreman said our bmw air filter is located at bottom there, he said my air-filter already suck the water in and make the engine die off suddenly.

they just dry up everything, change engine oil and etc etc all in only rm3k+ only.. then my car can drive till now more than 15K km already.. so far nothing happen..

What's the big commotion? Seems lots of panties in a bunch. TS just has to ask BMW to open the head and see if its hydro locked. If it is, means due care was not taken and TS might have to bear d expenses. Out of goodwill, bmw might share d costs. Otherwise forgo warranty and do it outside.

If not hydro locked, then find out issue and claim warranty if not due to negligence. What else can you do? Manual says drive slow in water below a certain level.

Labour charges are astronomical, but hey, since when do official dealers not charge you heaven and earth? You would do it too if you knew the consumer had no other choice unless void warranty.

If I was the TS, I would not have sent back to bmw. Rather get it fixed outside and none's the wiser.

hi seng, first of all sorry to hear your mishap, ive been there many years ago and yes i ended up with bent conrods and some faulty sensors. i was stuck in traffic heavy rain, and suddenly a big wave of water came flooding from a big longkang or river, water was above my bonet, submarine .. crazy, some kancil was ald floating!! as per devillian, step by step check and it cost me under 3K to get her up and running.

i think there is no point in arguing on water, puddle, flood or splash la..water is dangerous!! i think the point here is "price to fix" quoted is mental... this is what that needs to be addressed wt SC or BMW. on another case that happened in a basement carpark, try to get compensation... errrr same thing i got, sorry "act of god" ... how they define this, i also dunno... someone mention that the area u kena always had water puddles, can we sue our beloved G, for poor infrastructure etc ... ?

anyway, i hope u can get ur problems solved soon.

Dun play play with floodwater. I often see car driving faster than they shud... I would wait till the car in front clear the stretch first, so I can see how deep is the water or any sign of potholes... And also to let the wave settle before driving slowly in 1st gear all the way thru. Don't change gear, cos if the water is higher than the exhaust tail pipe, water would get sucked in. and also the faster the car move forward, the higher the water goes up the front. Imagine a bulldozer pushing a pile of earth.

In the threadstarter's case, sounds like water got into the engine causing internal damage.

Is it true that diesel car not afraid of water? I remember someone told me about this last time. Not sure if this is true?

Definitly not bro ... water is the diesel worst enemy ...

Water goes into diesel engine also will kaput... Bear in mind compression ratio for diesel engine is 2x as much...

However, diesel engine can be better sealed off for it to go into deeper waters like those 4x4 going deep into the jungle, complete with snorkler intake above the roof. The main difference is that diesel engine doesn't need sparkplugs for ignition. no sparkplugs = no coils/distributor, which don't like water...

Fabian has given great advice but I must kai poh and clarify that your standard diesel bmw don't have snorkle so it is just as susceptible.

nsx rules! might due to its mid engine and higher air intake LOL

Like I say earlier, there's some kind of problem with the latest models that seem to have a weakness with water. Check with your service advisor. I am sure they know about this. Keep us posted.

BMW F30 Water Problem - Wow this model does seem to really have some annoying/embarassing build quality issues? Hmmm..

do u guys feel that its actually G work to ask all manufacturers not to build the car up to par compared to German specs? one reason is to spoil the good name and divert all the sales back to Proton and perodua?

THis is interesting. Do explain further on your observations bro.......please....

btw, i think i saw the air intake for the f30... its located at the RHS of the grill facing left.... so i think better not let a lorry over take you from the left during the flood....
