You can increase the HP by raising the VE. Up the RPM, increase compression, advance the timing, direct injection, port & polishing and etc....Increase HP is the same for both NA and FI, is just easier with FI, and cheaper. With technology & science, you can replace what you lack in displacement.

LOL ... do you actually know what you're talking about bro??? How does one modify an engine to have a direct injection??? I'm assuming you're talking about modifications here cos you're mentioning port & polishing, up the rpm and so on ...
P/s: When it comes to torque for N/A engine ... The adage 'No replacement for displacement is certainly true'
