AES Camera Locations

One point noted in the article: The AES is operated by RTD (JPJ) while the Traffic Police still have their speed guns. What will happen to those?

Use it in small roads to generate 'duit kopi'. I'm sure the police hate the AES system just like the rest of us, no more roadblocks to collect money for.

Radar for speed gun is obsolete. It's only good when there's only 1 moving object detected. When there's more than 1 object, it can't tell which is the speeding car.

Radar is cheaper compared to laser. Laser needs a human to aim? Maybe using different narrower radar band? Might not be detectable (by V1 also) if its of a different band / frequency.

Nope. Dont think so. Another thing to remember is not all the AES cameras are fixed, some are mobile. So it can't be embedded on the roads.
Okay, I meant for the permanent cameras.

If AES is utilizing an induction loop system then there will be some work done on the road surface, which I haven't seen so far.
Look carefully in the video I posted in this tread earlier. You can clearly see the marks on the road where they laid the induction cables on each lane. These cables don't take any longer than to just cut a very narrow and shallow opening in the road, stuff a cable in and cover it with bitumen. No more than half a day to lay down on all 3 lanes.

The article in Top Gear clearly indicated 2 types of speed detectors from Germany and Australia that will be used in the AES system and its radar based.

For further reading on various of speed detectors used in other countries, here is an interesting link, http://www.roadsupervisors.net/aer.speed-cameras.htm

3er, most of the radar gun is still at K or KA band.

Wonder how fast one receives the saman once flashed in myeg? Thought i was flashed last week but no sign of it in my record. Or should i say yet

i got this, its not picking up Trucam and some other speed cam used by JPJ. It picks up all the telco signals everywhere i go...damn!

Issit? V1 should not / does not pick up telco signals. The typical GSM signals are on 900 and 1800MHz. Radar guns (for speed) are from 10GHz (X-band) to 13.5GHz (Ku-band).

They said 5 days

I love all the bitching about AES. Speed signs are too small, people make money. Eh ... last time when no AES speed signs are still visible la. If we learn not to speed then there is no problem but fact it almost everyone wants to speed etc. Travelling up to Penang recently, I cruised at 110 on my cruise control. I think almost 50% of the cars on the highway were faster than me, at least 130 kmh.

Everyone ubah cara hidup last time la. Doing side business, meeting more clients, spending quality time at home can be done comfortably with speeding :)

Now have to ubah cara hidup again with the AES, so we hear all the bitchin' and the wailing of the people.

BTW, the VIPs should set a good example. I don't mind the outriders for safety sake but they all should follow whatever speed limit set for ordinary rakyat. Currently all of them cruise at 140 to 160 km/h.

In today's CBT, it is mentioned that AES is utilizing inductive loop speed detectors, at least for permanent ones. If that's the case then radar/laser detectors wouldn't work. Use WAZE or key in the locations on your GPS navigation system.

Is it located after the tunnel going towards Mutiara Damansara?

c-square;777332 said:
Yeah, it is

I passed by slowly 4 times. Could not find it. Must be hidden very well or mobile version?

After the Penchala tunnel is mobile, and there's normally a roadblock after the turn further down. Confirmed this afternoon as I passed, saw the guy hiding behind the bush in the middle reservation shooting from behind. Approx 100m after the tunnel, before the Ingress BMW signboard bridge.

am using MEX today and have not seen any. Have anyone seen it on MEX?

My wife works in Putrajaya. Everytime I go see her there, day or night I'm sure to pass over 200kmh on MEX. Only slow down when there's airport taxis hogging the fast lane. So far no summons.

Lucky la this guy..did u use yr cam detector?

So far MEX clear...no construction works noticed as well... if AES on MEX, mati la :(

don't forget those mobile / portable unit. got mine saman last week captured with mobile AES speed limit 80kmh and I am travelling at 95kmh. KL-Seremban highway below the bridge before Selangor Turf Club. By the way, it is 4 lanes highway

I'm using Waze gps software everytime I'm on d road to look out for those camera...so far their map updated with the new AES camera

Actually, they are already laying down the induction cables for the cameras.
If you notice at certain points of the MEX highway, there are 3 lengths of steel cables stretched across all lanes of the highway. I saw this kind of layout on many of the roads and highways around Cyberjaya and Putrajaya.
At first I thought they were a form of "yellow lines" to slow down cars, but after studying the map pointing out the locations of future AES cameras, the two clicked together. The metal cables are guide cables for the cutting machines they are going to use to cut the grooves in the road for the induction sensor cables.

So remember the locations where your car runs over these 3 steel cables, this where your AES enemy is going to be residing very soon.
