good vid u got there. but this is nothing new. my ex-italian diesel fiat already running with 1 belt since 1998. most conti car does that and recently japanese/korean follow the it. it is for easy installation and low maintenance. the tensioner bearing will last long tot especially for diesel engine cos max rpm only 4,500rpm

It might be a serious Timing chain, sprocket and crankshaft problem

All we had noise problems on the N47 engine, crankshaft problems, dumper, seseos .... begins to have serious consequences strand breaks, motor .... repairs are budgeted cases of around 9,000 euros and all out of warranty. Also as of today we have seen that there are already foreros bmw 320d 184cv with the crankshaft and fucked in the car a couple of months.
Models affected:
116d, 118d, 120d, 123d, 316d, 318d, 320d, 520d, X1_18d, X1_20d, X1_23d, X3_20d (and from 2012 it mounted in 125d, 325d and 525d 218cv 4 cyls diesel)
MOTOR N47: the "PARTECADENAS" or CHAINBROKER or "failure of EURO 5000"
They say we are alarmist and only forum to discuss breakdowns enters:
There is no case M47 engine (4-cylinder diesel until 2006 included) but many cases N47 engine.

Complaint
Rubbing sound, drag on the engine from about 1500 rpm, which is visible from the inside.
The noise may be seen well in the gearbox housing and the oil pan.
Cause
Excessively sharp edges on the sprockets, the chain runs evenly over the guides.
Measures
We must distinguish two cases:
Case 1:
For motors N47, N47DKO, N47S, production interval from 01.03.2007 until 05.01.2009.
In case of customer complaint must change the following parts:
(See annexes 1 to 7 illustrations.) - 7,803,479 November 21 Sutitución of crankshaft bearings.
Caution: Use only with production date crankshafts after 5. 1. 2009
The production date is printed on crankshaft sprocket (see page 2 of the Annex)
Meaning of the figures:
- The first two indicate the assembly line.
- The following June, the year (two digits), month, day.
- Last 5 indicate reference number of the crankshaft.
Thus, the crankshaft shown on page 2 of the annex was made on 21 October 2009.
41 7,797,896 -11 Chain oil pump.
- 11 31 8 506 652 Timing Chain lower.
- 13 52 7 797 906 for the drive sprocket of the high pressure pump.
- 11 27 7 800 523 Sprocket (intermediate for balance shafts).
-11 8,510,014 31 upper timing chain.
-11 7,797,899 31 Timing Chain Guide above.
-13 52 7797904 Timing chain guide bottom.
Note: Adjusting the intermediate gear shafts accurately balanced according to shop manual. Should this intermediate gear and axles do not conform sufficiently balanced, the motor can continue to give rise to noise despite the new crankshaft.
See November 21 workshop manual 500 "crankshaft replacement."
Note: In the case of vehicles to which a previous repair and they replaced the crankshaft:
Proceed with these vehicles as detailed in "Case 2".
Case 2:
N47 engine, N47DKO, N47S, N47T production interval 01/05/2009 -
In case of customer complaint replace the following parts:
(See Annex, illustrations 8-10)
-11 8,506,652 31 Supply Chain inferior.
- 13 52 7 797 906 sprocket high pressure pump.
- 11 31 8 510 014 Supply Chain superior.
-11 7,797,899 31 Timing Chain Guide above.
-13 52 7797904 Timing chain guide bottom.
Note: It is necessary to release the attachment of the thread of the intermediate gear wheel balancer shafts.
Note: As of March 2011 there are new guidelines. These guides bring no longer stiffening ribs.
(See Appendix, pages 7 and 10.)
Thus the inner surface of the guide is smooth throughout its length and the chain runs quietly on them.
No references have changed.
Note: During the sure repair guides are mounted without lateral veins, (Annex, Art 7 and 10.)
Attention:
No repairs are permitted on vehicles with production date after 03/2011 and vehicles in which all current measures have already been undertaken. The current noise is, for now, the normal state of series! No risk of broken chain!
Is not permitted engine change because of this claim!

the noise is back
Hi jwah and andy,
My tensioner /belt / bearing noise is back, however nomore. Cicak noise but metal rubbing noise,, suspect either .tensioner or bearing. Will try to post video.
Something is seriously wrong, despite all parts changed,.....
