320d engine at problem, very loud noise at idle

jwah, it sound like the belt tensioner bearing sound. The pitch of the sound seem to change when you rev up your engine.

It is the Belt and Tensioner Bearing, but Quill don't have the stock.
heard that there is a better version.....will confirm that later

I was having similar noise problem 3weeks ago, but the noise of mine is less. After changing
the tensioner problem almost gone. Left very little noise now during cold start. Once it is hot totally quiet. Suspect belt problem now despite changing the tensioner. All done under warranty at Quill. I intend to change the belt next service.

LeongFS they will change both tensioner and belt..

This wasnt regular service. My TPA was faulty and had to leave my ride overnight. Was offered the Mini but in the end got the 320i instead.

confirmed there is an improved part for Tensioner and Belt for 320d engine. Parts in Germany, have to wait 3 weeks

am having the same problem with my e90 320d. i have send my car to Quill on 30th April 2012. Told them I am going to be away for business trip and expected my car to be ready when I am back on 11th May 2012. till today, no one from Quill called me. Hope my baby is ready when i am back.

they just called me this morning and my car is ready. Since I am back on 11th, I have ask them to rechecked the car again and see if the problem is solved completely. Not wanting to take my car if the problem is still there.

Just changed the belt and nothing else.....seem ok so far...

the sound is coming back. Am going to send the car to Quill again. I am not going to be pleasant this time.

the noise is back

My 320d tensioner, belt, noise is back after one over month changing of the parts at Quills. Looks like they did not do a good job previously. Need to make booking to send back the car. I find that local ckd BMW is worst then Japanese car on quality control.

Send my car over to Quill on Wednesday for checking. The Service Advisor told me that they have check the issue on my car and will now order the parts to rectify the issue. It seems that the problem comes from fan belt and bearing (not sure if this is 100% correct). The earliest time they will get the part is next week. Need to leave my car there for at least 2 days to rectify the following issue:-

1) Rattling Sound from engine part - fan belt and bearing
2) Knocking Sound from 4 doors of the car - change of door rubber or something
3) Break Sound - clean disk break

Leong, I might be going earlier mate. Let me know if you are back early. It seems to me that if the part arrives next week, I might be able to send my car in on 8.7.12.

My engine noise coming back just these few days...seems it is very consistent for the car, just over the same period.

They changed my belt only, one month then problem back, today visit the Quill and made appointment next week...troubles...

the service advisor called me today and said that my parts may arrive tomorrow. was hoping to send in my car ASAP. the fan belt is really irritating me badly.

Changed one of the pulley, so far so good....

The SA said one changed the belt and tensioner, last for 2 days only.

Cannot be the belt nor tensioner, because the tensioner can pull quite far
Belt changed last for 1 month

that was quick. my SA told me that the parts are yet to arrive? Now I will need to wait till next month before able to send my car in for repair.
