i think all s/c kits come with an intake and an intake filter with the kit. I know mine does, has K&N filter with a cold air style intake.

:D ok cool..cuz i've been offered a head unit(dinan spirit s28 style)but the other bits and pieces will hv to be custom.. even the intercooler.
..and what kind of engine oil do u use and what sort of service interval do u practice?

Superg,

Aftercooler ?. Check out the Mustang crowd in the US. They used it in the mustangs that are supercharged. Its the same principle as the intercooler but it uses a separate water reservior (with or without its own small radiator) to cool the intake charge.

Cars like Mustang does not have the right space in the right place to place a conventional intercooler (either air-to-air, or air-to-water) , so the Tangs uses aftercooler , also called ChargeCooler for that purpose. It has its own electric water pump and sensors to circulate the water in the aftercooler. Apparently, its pressure loss is less compared to the normal intercooler.

More plumbing and more parts means more weight and more areas where things can go wrong. Don't confuse this with water/methanol injection or water sprays.

:D oh ok..i asked cuz infinitas might be offering an aftercooler for its SK+ kit..infinitas quoted me 4099euros for delivery of the kit to my doorstep.. but this is a basic kit with the least hp increase.
well, still undecided on which way to go..the SK1 is going for way more than the SK+.. so far the powerdyne setup is the cheapest la..

if your going to get it delivered to you, please note that when it reaches malaysian soils. you will get taxed a 30%+10%+2% from the total cost of the items with its shipping cost.

:D infinitas sk+ SC kit for 6cyl bimmers.. noticed this kit is also devoid of any injectors,ICs and the lot.
i think this is meant to be a starter/basic kit and comes with ASA TM111-12 compressor, intake assembly and ASAtronic piggyback etc..328i est 250-260chp.
anyone selling this kit in malaysia?
selling for a little less than us$4000
you will need an intercooler!
imagine forcing in hot ambient air into your engine! Welcome detonation!

yes us may only be USD4000 for the kit, then you add in the shipping (imagine a 35kg load) and then our import tax on motor vehicles parts.

phooor add another 42%!

how much? same kit as kevin's?

How would the installation of a stroker kit be any different? Apart from the increase in road tax that is.

I've had bad personal experiences with Stuttgart. I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.

I would reccommend doing your research, decide which kit you want, then having it shipped to you direct from the States/wherever (have you checked out ESS?), find yourself a good mechanic and go from there.

I think it will still work out to be cheaper.

Zaki444,

A stroker kit is completely different to a supercharger/forced induction install. It's just so completely different as to not warrant going into all the differences!

if u think u dun mind some extra work, there are some kits demounted from e46's in the states as people are trying to return to stock to sell their cars. like someone mentioned, u can change the blower bearing, clutch, spring.. shud work as fine if done properly.

you'd then save a lot! imagine getting an sc kit for usd1500!! shipping, tax, install, total wud be around rm12 to 15k max.. plenty of savings to do up other upgrades.. :D

p/s: gud thing about asa, the blower is not maxed out. ess also starts using the blower by asa, and it's more complete kit than infinitas with injectors and software.. wanted to upgrade, but got quoted usd2k=RM8k!! dont think i can afford that for an additional 30hp :( nebermind, i upgrade sloooooooooowly la.. :D

:) yeah..this is part of my research actually.just want to look see what the whole thing is all about.thus far,i still prefer ASA as there are a lot of good comments on it..
and yeah..being what i am in my field i'd probably do just that(go to the US)..only thing i'm now doing domestics and regional flights only and at the rate i'm working right now, time is still a big problem..
alas..all in good time!!! my car ain't going anywhere anytime soon..
research research..:)

emm.. heard stuttgart installed quite a number of units.. been there recently, the first time they saw ASA kit.. their comment? "why is it only boosting 0.38bar?" the AA wud easily boost 0.55-0.6bar"

made me thinking again, as the boost is measured before manifold, does that mean the engine is operating at a higher pressure with the AA?

i cannot understand when people say the different blower design between ASA and AA is the reason why ASA need to run at a lower boost to achieve similar power output.. can someone pls explain:

1) does higher boost equal higher air flow rate?
2) what's the difference between operating with the same air flow rate but with higher pressure?
3) what's the relation between pressure and speed?

really cannot remember a thing about these things.. :beaten: really appreciate if someone cud explain the above.. tahnks!!
