erm..
so, why they give the hot clearence measurement..?

no such thing as hot clearance......
each material will hold different specific heat ,thus capacity will differ in the materials, thus giving a different expansion properties for each material, i.e. valve lash....after years of use, each valve will have different properties...
even minute heat capacity will give different results i.e expansion of metal , so each valve adjust will differ.

only way is to eliminate this factor, which is to perform the adjustment when there is zero heat, thus early morning before the sun rises or leave the car a whole day and adjustment made in mid of the nite......

if you adjust during hot.Metal expand when hot...guess if you stop driving, what will happen....??

valve clearence..?
what type of bimmer engine..?
still dunno what car you drive..

valve clearence (intake and exhaust)

M10 engine
cold - 0.20mm
hot - 0.25mm

M20 engine
cold - 0.25mm
hot - 0.30mm

M30 engine
cold - 0.30mm
hot - 0.35mm

M40 engine
hydraulic adjusters

Not neceesary if ur rocker arms shafts are worned out. I've tried 0.25 but cannot la.

i am guessing the 0.25 amount is if you do replace all the old parts in the cyclinder head...??? rocker arms, shafts, guides etc etc....i am not too sure on this..

dont think should replace all old parts..
maybe if the parts condition is okeh,
then, the measurement just okeh..

dont know much too..
just know the measurement only.. :p

first of all...thanks guys for all the comments and advice.

and...i'm still not satisfied with my engine. i do not recommend the Manns Pro woksyop...8 hours of wasting my time...i need a really good workshop to work on my baby. i have another problem cummin' on the way...seems like my clutch is slipping. anybody has done gearbox overhaul b4? how much will it cost? in my mind is planning to change it to manual...i nvr like auto though, and yes dis E30 is is my project car.

erm..
dunno much bout workshop in kajang..

bro jeembo,
your car using auto tranny yek..?
if using auto, there wont be prob like clutch slipping..
only vehicle with manual transmission / transaxle using clutch,
for the power flows..

maybe other prob kot..

ooo really? does auto tyranny not have clutch or something? if it have not been the clutch what could it be then? i need recommended workshop to go to...

camne nak kata yek..

auto transmission / transaxle parts:

1. torque converter that has lockup clutch to prevent slippage..
2. gear train that has planetary gearsets..
3. hydraulic system..

torque converter = fluid coupling that containstator to permit a torque increase..
torque converter clutch = to lock transmission input shaft to engine crankshaft, eliminate any slippage thru torque converter..

recommended workshop,
tak tau aar area kajang..
