One thing I would suggest is dont ever park at those downtown open lot carparks if you can help it

Sean cor cor....

Yes sir. Advice noted.
Haha I'm just merely echoing what my service manager friend told me about the cars that came in to the dealer that were affected by the flood everytime and that was his advise when your car is drowned in water.

On the additional premium to cover for flood, is it 0.05% or 0.5% of the car insured value?

hmmm... this sound like the engine masuk water already. i was lucky to learn about this problem (air intake design for this car is at the bottom) before i got my 328i through this forum. My friend's mom punya 320i, just 1 month old only was stalled on the road during heavy rain and got to change the engine but luckily she has bought the flood insurance. I heard the new engine cost about 70 over k.. no joke. So i will drive very careful and very tension during heavy rain.

oh no....

Has BMW overcome this water issue? Did they solved this problem for 2015 models?

thanxs !

This thread has just given me all sorts of fears......never worried about all this whilst driving Japs all those years

coz Japs intake sits on top of the grille.
most important thing to note is, don't go thru puddles, sometimes its those mother truckkers that cause the big splash/wave!
if car stalled, DO NOT crank it..

330i air intake behind right hand side headlamp there got a plastic cover close up the hold behind grille from water get in fresh air hose. Believe BMW already modify it

Wow, reading this thread is getting me scared of owning a BMW. Heavy downpour or flood is something we can't avoid in Malaysia. Im getting my 330e end of this month and am really scared as having electric motors mounted behind the engines would make it worst! Hopefully I wont be having this kind of problems, finger crossed...

definitely will take the flood cover insurance for sure.

Just curious, since the problems is from water sipping in the engine through the air intake, crossing flood water in full electric mode (330e) will avoid this problem? (since the petrol engine won't turn on in e-max drive mode) or it will just electrocute the electric motor?

Either way do u dare to risk driving your car which is loaded with electronics through flood waters?

Personally..,.I won't.
