1. Not very deep bro, i could open my door and no water come inside but after car stopped.. water level raised till the door and my carpet was wet after.
2. Myvi was about 2 meter infront me
3. The repair cost too low because water did not enter the enginer. Cost include checking and cleaning water in engine, diagnostic test, compression test, change air filter, oil filter and oil.

Technician told me, i was lucky because no water entered engine but they do all the test for precaution. In his experience on such cases, 1st time seems.

2k is consider very cheap, which include oil, oil filter, air filter etc, its just like normal service!

Yes you are right, if car break down while passing pond, DON'T TRY TO RESTART THE ENGINE, even the car is overflow by water, the damage would be minimal.

My fiend who work in AB told me, few cars send to workshop for repair due to flash flood. Guess what, 35-40k

wah liow... this is scary man. Looks like we should all be very afraid of flood water

u mean when your car breakdown, u could still open the door without water going in, but after a while, water level rise and seep through?

Reading all these posts on f30s stalling in flood water makes me feel worry and uneasy whenever heavy rain. I wonder when will be my turn.....hopefully not.

Good day to alls UDM owmner including me a newbie here...
Just to share some experience regarding during heavy down pour...
This happened during working day in Ford Consses..
A Mazda same models as Ford Telstar...this car the air intake pipe is just above beside the radiator tank...
This car owwned by a Singaporian drive thru some flood waters in Mersing suddenly coming from the front another car a japs...
so the wave from the coming car quite high and the water splash on this mazda so after a while the car stall...
tow the car to Ford Kuntan and we do inspection found that water have enter the intake manifold stall the engine...
Lucky the driver did not try to start the engine so the damaged not so harm...
the damaged parts replace all the valves, cylinder head gasket, spark plug, engine oil and fillter and the ATF also...
very little damage bcox the driver did not try to start the engine since he new the circumstances if try to start the engine after entering water ponds and the car stalled...
the next day the car was out of the workshop...total cost around rm2k...

So moral of the story please do not....please do not try go try ponds of water or even low flood...

Further more if the intake vent is to low in this BMW...

just my 3 cents...cheers...

Yes bro, when car stopped I could open the door because I suspect the water level will raise since heavy rain. Actually I was with my brother and we wanted push the car. But when ur car stop, it will lock gear box and u will not able to shift gear from P to N hence u will not able to push the car n u will only able to see/watch ur car floating

It must be very painful to watch your beloved UDM got telan by rising water and you cannot do anything but watch.

I agree with you bro. My advise to all UDM owner, if you drive around quite a bit and frequently travel to areas that are prone to flood, then it's better to add on this coverage just in case.

I have seen many new BMW models stranded in flood waters in my area. I mean the latest models. I suspect there is weakness in the electronic system or sensor or something underneath the chassis that is sensitive to water and would stall the car when crossing water puddle or a pool of water. So guys, be more careful when driving in bad weather, avoid driving over water ponds.

Oh crap ....i have crossed some flooded areas ( which i saw other cars - protons crossing and so crossed over ) and there was no problem with my F30..
but thanx for the heads up..

Last Monday evening, heavy rain around KL n PJ area. Water accumulate along federal HW. I was driving my F30 on my way back to hotel. I was so tension when other vehicle splash water onto my car and I'm avoiding those lane with deep water. Sigh...Maybe I'm over cautious... :D...

I can fully understand your feeling.....same feeling for me every time heavy rain..... Buy insurance rider for flood may resolve some of your worries.

Can someone give a guide to the seriousness of this matter?

I mean,
a. How high would the water have to be to have this problem? 6", 12" or more?
b. Would during heavy rain and water from opposite side of the road splashes over cause this problem?
c. Would even sending the car for car wash / engine wash cause this problem?

Buying insurance is just a fall back plan to minimize our cost but think of the inconvenience. Imagine you standing by the road with your family. Imagine yourself without transport for a few days.
If its serious, this has to be escalated to BMW group.
Just my opinion.

Last Tuesday it was heavy morning rain in Port Dickson.I was on the way to the office at Nilai. the Lukut-Sepang junction was flooded and luckily i used Perdana at that time. The water was 1 feet high and harmful to bmw.So please avoid Sepang-Lukut road when raining better take Nilai-NSH for peace of mind.
