I'm having some trouble installing the 64bit drivers because my device manager refuses to recognize drivers from FTDI website. Does anyone have the remedy for this (maybe some full uninstall of the drivers or similar)?

Thanks.

Edit: Got it working.

Jarance/Anyone who would know,

This was an old issue I asked a while back without any conclusive answer. Basically I feel my front Xenon Auto adjusting lights is not high enough, and I've adjusted it manually using to screw on top of the headlight to be on its highest setting currently.

Using the BMW Scanner 1.4 this is the screen that would control the headlight height setting (I guess).

HVAC (Headlight Vertical Aim Control)

Btw its not a screenshot of my car's setting, its from the net. I'm reffering to the HVAC positioning bit.

So what I'm asking is, what are the values that I can play with? If it was only numbers I guess its easy to play with, but this is 9A, 5C etc so I'm quite confused there. AidilJ suggested this is a hexadecimal value (did he say hexadecimal? Cant remember).

So anyone out there know the values I could play with? Or better not to touch it?

Bro Haywire,

Just curious as to whether you already have an answer for this? I am also not happy with my current headlight vertical adjustment. Any bros out there can help with the actual values we can try out?

Hi,

That look to be an 8bit value so the valid range would be 00 to FF. in Hex you count from 0 to F not 0 to 9 (decimal).

18 + 1 = 19
19 + 1 = 1A
1A + 1 = 1B
1B + 1 = 1C
1C + 1 = 1D
1D + 1 = 1E
1E + 1 = 1F
1F + 1 = 20

And so on, hope this helps.

Cheers

Thanks bro !!!

Honestly, I am quite foreign to this hex numbering. But will try to dig out more info. Just curious, have u tried whether it is possible to adjust the Headlight Vertical Aim Control for ur ride using the scanner? Any improvements ?

Hey Petrus,

No I haven't even plug the BMW scanner to my car yet. Anyhow, my car has manual levelling control. Both the projectors are adjusted to be in a usable range. Your car has autolevelling?

yes bro,

I have that manual leveling as shown in the picture. Only thing is i find that the level for my headlights are still low despite i set it to the maximum level. I am not so sure of what I can do to try to adjust the leveling.

I tried searching the thread but seems no solid answer about how to increase the level of the headlight to beam slightly further. It's not a problem for places with road lights, but when there are no road lights, even the high beam on my UDM looks like the normal beam for my other rides. I wonder if we should move this discussion on headlight leveling to another thread?

Yeah this discussion should be in different thread. Here are some links for you. Essentially there are two knobs to turn, the outer one (closer to side of car) adjust the beam left or right, the inner knob adjust the beam up or down.

Cheers

I thought the outer knob (the one with the 1 and 2 number markings) is to adjust the headlights up and down. The inner knob (the one with the meter on top of it) is to adjust the brightness of the console and meter gauge.

Salut

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I'm referring to knobs/screws on the headlight itself not the light switch

Cheers

Yes u are right bro my car with this auto level control too.

Bro Petrus

Try to plug in the 1.4 scanner to check see your auto level switch got kong or not.

If i am not mistaken during the scan when come to LCM-Light Check Module just pay attention on your front light and u will notice the angle of the brightness will move up and down for a while. That's means that your level switch should be works i guess.

Hope the info will help.

Below was my scan result July last year:

That is a manual level control bro. Auto levelling cars should not have any knob inside the car, you cannot adjust it manually. The height of the beam is controlled by sensors on the tyre, depending on weight and angle of inclination of the car.

Bro mine can adjust the level of the high beam inside the car, the adjustment knob was the one with 1 and 2 number markings as mentioned by Solo.

Yes, which means your car has manual adjustment. The 1,2...etc means there are 1 or 2 or ... people inside the car, so the headlight will adjust accordingly to respond to the weight of the car.

Auto levelling will not have this knob, as I said there are sensors near the tyre/suspension which detects the weight and inclination of the car and adjust accordingly, no manual adjustment is available in the car. No knob.

Both manual and auto adjusting headlamps will have the adjustment screw on the headlight itself.

hello my bmw scanner did not read live data DDE 5.0 M47TUE E46/2003 320D 150hp, is there any way you can read?

gergus, I dont think the BMW Scanner will give live data for certain model of BMW/E46. This is because the program is developed by another third party (PA Soft) so not all the source code is known.

For full function and live data, you need to use the INPA or GT1 program which is developed by BMW. However, in order to use this program, you need to buy another type of communication cable like D Can or Kbus compatible cable as shown below.
Google the net for the brand in China for the product.
