Hi Sifus,

I am worried about one thing. Under Live data, my Status VANOS Active is "No" instead of "Yes". Is this an issue I need to look at for my M54b25?

Please advice.

Vanos only kick in above certain rpm. Try revving it up and see if it turns to 'Yes'.
 
Im with E46 320i M52

This is how you make PA Soft 1.4.0 wor on Win 7 64bit

Download the FTDI Win 64bit Driver

Go to >> device manager >> Install USB SERIAL (right click on BMW Scanner >>> Update Driver>> Choose location >> Find the driver)

This will then convert your USB to serial Port

Go into Serial/USB properties and change the advance setting to COM1 and other delays to 1 ms


Then ur good...

I do not have the passion to post tutorial i guess huhhuhu... but if there is any online it may be good but there is none... i think Jarance and me are the only person with working 64bit bmwscanner so far...

Will post picture when i have time k...

I found your forum on google. I searched some tips about BMW Scanner, and I found few. Thanks to jarance!

But I have few questions.
I have a E46 from 12/98 with a 20 pin adapter. Went fine. But car ident don't working. The first line is green an the second one went red and then with this error: "LCM: FA reading error".

Then I see only the VIN and odometer. What's wrong?

Coding of ZKE was OK and now I'm happy, that I have optical acknowledgement of arming and disarming alarm. Here in Germany acoustig arming/disarming is not allowed by law! :) But I don't really understand why somebody choose this... :/ With this you can't stealthy closing your car, if you don't want to wake up your parents every time you come home late at night! :D

But is it possible to code optical acknowledgement of closing/opening (not arming/disarming because he has no alarm) a E46 320d from 2002 from my friend??? We tried but not working in DWA arming/disarming optical. :( Also automatic locking after 2 min. not working! Why?
We both using the last scanner version 1.4.0.8. And you??
What means "arming, doors closed - optical"?! I don't understand. Do you have a scenario for me? This was the only one which was activated at the car of my friend. But he hasn't the DWA ecu. Can we do it with Inpa/Ediabas? I have it already. Or maybe with Carsoft 6.5 or another tool??

By the way, can I activate something usefull under "other options" or is it predefined? May I activate oil consumption warning or oil loss warning or is the sensor not built-in??

Livedata doesn't functioning on both above-mentioned cars. :( On my car it was fine with Ediabas and a (by me) modified cheap standard USB K-L adapter for VW/Audi cars!!!

Yes, xcrave, I did the same thing and it worked. the 1msec latent time is important to get the scanner to work properly.
When I switch to the scanner 1.4.0, it lost communication because I forgot to adjust it as a new driver was installed.

I will try my best to answer some of you question.

A: The chances is that your 20pin adapter might not be connected properly to your scanner. In addition, the car identity would only works or module can only be detected when the Igniton Key is turn to position 2 or the car is started and running.
However, some modules can be detected even the igniton key is in OFF position.
Note: Oil reset can only be done when the engine is OFF.

A: it is possible to have optical acknowledgement of closing/opening of the door even though you dont have DWA.
However, the acoustics will not work if you dont have DWA because the acoustics use the buzzer instead of the car horn.
Most of use divert it to the side lamp instead of the low beam or high beam.
Automatic autolock after 2 minutes will only work if all the doors, front bonnet and rear bonnet are closed.
This is a feature to prevent your key from trapped in the car. Check your door switch and bonnet switch.
If I am not mistaken, you can use the scanner to check whether all the switches are working or not.
Please take note the autolock will be cancel when the GM5 see a door or boot is open.

A: Yes, I am also using 1.4.0.8 which is what we download from bmw-scanner.com.

A : "arming, doors closed - optical" means that the light (high beam or low beam or signal light) will flashed one time when all doors are locked properly. It will not flash if any of the door is not lock properly. This can be done via the scanner 1.4.0 and also INPA. Not sure about carsoft 6.5 cos havent got this program to work on my laptop.

A: Not sure about this for the scanner 1.4. There is a selection in the IKE module. Have not try this function before.

A: Got mine for about USD188 from China. This include CDRom, cables, paypal charge and freight.

The 3-in-1 can scan e46. The BMW Scanner 2.01 can scan E90 onward but cannot scan E46.

PS:

Thank for this info. will try the live data on a car today with my scanner 1.4 and INPA.
 
Jarance how cheap is the VAG cable... i'm ordering a proper GT1/DIS Ediabas/INPA interface for $120 (including shipping by DHL >5days and paypal charge) 12days

I saw in ebay but the cable is already 95++ $ excluding shipping when i asked it will cost another $35 by international mail >12 days


Anyways on the side note i need a proper PWM value for cross checking my LCW--> Light coding... any idea for my retrofitted HID/Xenon?

I have a lot of difference from what Jarance GUI is having but i figure its because my car was just too old 20 pin +1999 +E46+m52 = not much module yet :p

Ok i have a though one here... ive gotten my hands on some re flashing codes for a lot of module which require recoding to a lot of item and retrofitting
(and the car can be as good as any face lifted or newer UDMS)

what do you guys think of such things? is it wrong in Law or anything? also will it cause my OBC failure? or need it be upgraded first? how about ECU tunings?

Ha..ha... one of them was me so there will be no feedback on the solution cause i might just ignore the alarm since my car was without the item 20.
