Optimum has stocked-up vanos seals a few months ago when we did the group buy #2, when I spoke to Fai about whether my seals need to be replaced or not after the 2.5L conversion.

Yes bro, i know Ah Foo has the seal, that's why i asked bazet to go there..:)

But according to owner...

3)bazet - e39 520i ( A ) - non vanos edition :D

hehehe, no vanos then no need seal kekekeke.

Oil Filter RM 38.6
Spark plugs (x6) RM226.8
Ravenol Fully 10w/60(7lit) RM385
Labor RM 45

TOTAL RM698.10

This was my first service at optimum, I find it a bit pricey compare to the pricing in the price and maint thread. So I quickly run to another workshop to do my wear and tear parts.

Maybe next time I should go with you guys to break the ice. Location wise, optimum is the best for me.

I went back again this afternoon to sort out the wiring of my foglamps after it sorta went kaput on me the same night I visited Optimum last Saturday, and I managed to get the same chap to work on the car again.

He was kind enough to ask me what the issue was and when did it happen, and after a short wait for him to sort out his earlier task on another car, he then proceeded to work on my car. He was especially good enough to let me know what's the main problem of what's causing the fogs to be faulty, telling me to source for a used set of holders since the original ones were ageing and the wires were badly frayed already. But he said he was still going to assist me in solving this predicament with a short-term solution, by rewiring the fogs with a new set of wires, which will hopefully hold up for now until I managed to get the replacement parts.

As soon as he rectified the lamps and closed my bonnet, I again offered to pay him for his efforts, and he just said, no charge, really not necessary. So I just walked away and thanked him before I left. I never really managed to catch his name, but I believe so far, even prior to these most recent experiences with them, I've had nothing but positive things to say about their workmanship, and hopefully, long may this continue to last.

To me i dont mind pay premium if they delivered. They rectified lots of things in a single day where other mechs still puzzling. Now no more alarms errors n the engine running like a charm.

Am glad to hear that bro.

My review after 1st time service at Optimum:
Pro:
- Can fast identified the problem
- Can provide very good advise
- Simply professional
- Experiance knowledge can share
- Open minded

Con:
- Not dare take risk
- Not willing do as user request
- Not accept 3rd party item to his shop
- Part is slightly expensive

Neutral:
- Workmanship price

Overall = 8/10 (Will mostly re-visit it)

Ah Fai from Optimum recommended to use Ravenol 10w-60 when i sent in my car for servicing, total cost with oil filter nanf labor is RM506. My concern now is i have just found out that 10w-60 is recommended for M cars, not sure what's the effect on the car as i have already follow his recommendation.

My experience with Optimum:

I was choosing between an E30 or E39 for a daily driver about 3 months back, hence came about this forum looking for answers, which is when I read about Optimum. Went to Jason's place the next day to have a chat with him and seek for some advise, he was extremely friendly and helpful in helping me make a decision based on my needs, he compared prices of spare parts between both, maintenance costs, what to look out for. Basically everything i needed to know/look out for when choosing a car. Then started my soul searching journey.

After 3 months of used car dealership and forum searching, I finally found my dream car, drove the car over straight to him(don't event know if he remembers me after 3 months) for a through inspection and there he went telling me the items that need replacing/repairs and a rough estimate for the repairs. At the end of everything, he gave his advise and feedback all without charging me a single cent, even when i insisted cos he took about an hour of his time to go through the car.

Some might say that he charges slightly higher, but to me, its services like this that make you feel your money is well spent!

Jason and Ah Fai are very nice people. I might not be able to talk to them well cos I cannot speak Chinese and yet they have a repeat customer in me. Have previously written about the great service I gotten from the Optimum guys in my E32 thread, they never fail to get back to me after my first time visiting them last year for a full-blown overhaul of the pistons and etc, and I've never looked back since.

And yes, someone did mention before, goodwill will come eventually. I have stated before that on few occasions when I went back to them to ask them to adjust some minor stuff here and there, they didn't even charge me a single cent. Imagine how I felt about not wanting to pay for services, so I ended up paying a token amount to the fella who helped fixed my car and drove off without any guilt.

It's service like this which makes my visits to Optimum one of the best workshop experiences I ever had. :top:

That's a wonderful f/back Eggie :top: Will definitely try make a visit to O/A for my first servicing...

just chipping in, i think their workmanship is good, give honest (not that easy to come by these days) advise and the charges imo are reasonable too +-. i would have been slaughtered alive elsewhere with my little knowledge about udm and opened my big mouth about changing lotsa parts (though the car is running well) to ensure it is in tiptop condition, instead ah fai told me to take it easy and change wear and tear bit by bit (whichever is giving away). the best part like everybody here said is the attitude, good chaps those 2 fellas, same faces of the workers (mostly) over my few visits there would be a testament for that. thanks to mizhan for the introductory during my 1st visit there.
