Sifus,1. Alot says Pilot Preceda made in Thailand. Do they have Japan Spec ?

Not too sure about the Preceda but i hear all Pilot Spots & PS2's are made in France.... with Malaysia rubber. Funny when u think about it really, my tires are probably made from rubber trees from somewhere in Perak, which had to be shipped to France and then all the way back home. And to think that my tires have been to Europe while i haven't.

Some Precedas are made in Siam and some Japan, all depends on the sizes. Popular and common sizes are mainly made in Siam and they are much cheaper, you are talking about easily 30-40% price differential and mainly its due to taxes.

Rgds

Is there different in quality where they made from ?

Japan Or Siam Or France ? Is it going to make a Diff ? Or only Taxes and price Different ?

I am using the precedas made in Siam and its been three months now. It performs like a typical Michelin tire, quiet and durable (hardly can see any wear).

I have also used the Pilot Sport (made in france) before, of course its a better tire in terms of grip (wet and dry) but I doubt its due to inferior manufacturing process (which we all biased against products from developing nations). Its more of the raw or synthetic material used to produce the Pilot Sport that gives it a better performance. In other words, if Michelin were to manufacture Pilot Sport tires in Siam, I have no doubt the quality should be on par with those made in France.

My 2 cents.

i am on Precedas too, since Nov'04 (41k kms then & now 52k kms) .... Thailand made. If you want Japan stuff, they can order.

Quiet & softer ride was my first impression ... well, comparing to older tyre which was the Dunlop SP2000 from Germany. At 41k kms it already have a lot of blisters & very noisy ...that prompted me to change.

Only problem i have with these Precedas is that i seem to have to go to top up the tyre pressure more often, like every 1 or 2 weeks ....ALBundy, similar experience?

This is seems to be unusual. Anybody can confirm this

I have had no leakage problems with the precedas. Well, in fact since I had them I have never top up any air into it :)

Had Precedas and Hotbits Suspensions...These both combination gives u so much of confidence till i nearly total my car...
Think i push it way too far hard... :p
Precedas 225/45/17 i had was made in Thailand...think 235 and above is made in Japan...
