Hi guys,Can some bro's here recommend the best security system for E60 ?I really scared such an expensive car will kena stolen. Thanks

dude tis car can be only steal in two given options:
1) hijack your car
2) tow your car away
beside then this two option, there is NO WAY your car will disappear from your eyesight. even if your window kena break, the most you lost will be your valuable things inside the car but ABSOLUTELY not your car for sure.

as CL said no need to waste money install alarm system on the E60 coz it is almost theft proof...without the key the car is useless...

Maybe can try install Captor. To track your car. However please check if it will void your warranty.

Thanks chookleng, t2ribena and IsaacVky for the advice.
I won't be buying any security stuff then.

Last question, what happen if nowadays the thief smart enough to make duplicate master key ?
hehehe

they can't bcos it is an electronic key. If ur key broken or break down, must send to BMW to service. One key cost almost one thousands.

Dont not install any alarm on the new range BMW. It will cause you more problem.

impossible for them to duplicate your car no matter how smart they are. the only things you can duplicate your E60 car is to have it send back to bmw centre and order it. its cost RM2,300 per duplicate key(in jb auto bavarian centre). your worrying in this is unduly.

Don't laugh but I've seen people install STOPLOCK steering lock on an E60. Just makes me smirk... goes to show that some people never change their "traditional" sense of security, even with the advancement of car security and anti-theft measures.

For me the best security measures for E60(or cars) are security film and tracking devices such as Captor. Although I'm not sure whether E60 electronics and warranty can handle such a device to be installed onboard. Maybe E60 sifus here can elaborate their experience on this.

Wow...they sure charge a lot more in JB. I got a new key from Ingress Auto for RM700 when I lost mine.

to order a new key, the person needs to have a police report and show proof of ownership before ordering from BMW. It's not easy to duplicate the key. The key itself comes with an immobiliser. Even if the person can copy the physical key, the car won't start as the fuel pump, starter won't engage without the immobiliser chip embedded in the key itself.

If you are still afraid of losing your car, you can try the Mr Bean method. Remove the steering wheel and perhaps a padlock to the doors. :)

still there are potential of car jacking... especially in Klang Valley and JB are dangerous.
Actually I have considered to go for car tracking system + immobiliser... but still really got time to shop around yet. Also the shop must be professional in installation process... as one wrong step and the car will be problematic in the future

yes...precisely. in fact i did enquired about tis services back last year then. decided not to install coz no gurantee been given to assure the car will be problem free after the installation. after tat...i somehow was told tat if those thugs really targetted u, nomatter wat shit system u install, they will know how to disarm it professionally within a minutes times even after hijack ur car. bro...im sure u know there a saying for tis "if u been targeted, there be no way out for u" coz they certainly will survey u gao gao before strike on u ma.even if they knew they cant disarm the things, they then will just wait for the best time to TOW away ur car if they had targeted ur car or love ur car so much tat they cant do without it LOL...in my opinion...might as well save those $$$$ instead of worrying tis n tat. haha...wat mean to be urs will be urs leh......

i agree with u bro CL.. wat i do now is be alert 1000%.. this is wat we can do all bros

no matter how alert you are... that doesn't mean that they will stop trying to hijack your car... after all, it worth quite a lot of money in black market.
I have contemplated to install hood lock (but still going to do more research on this) so that they can't open the hood to disarm the alarm. Plus with the immobiliser, once they hijack your car... the engine will switch off automatically because the transponder card is still with you... giving you a safe distance to get away and they not able to start your car, as the hood lock will prevent them to cut wire.
About towing, most tracking systems have anti-tilt function... so it will still be safe... but I still wonder if I should pay about RM500 yearly to maintain the tracking system... hmmm...

tat y i never use any additional lock on my E60 nor install any devices (captor, rapstor...anything u name it in the market available out there) coz just waste money only. my bro benz E200 brand new which bought tis year Feb just disappear from his car posh(in his possession of less then 7weeks duration) whilst having his auto gated on(can even know how to disarm the auto gate sial). somemore his car got those function (not sure wat brand of detecting system provided by benz orignally). it was stolen at midnight without any noises. reported police n police investigation revealed to my bro tat his car 95% might have been TOW away using fletbed lorry coz got some marks on his car posh.when reported to benz center, they too fail to detect it n given reason is tat those theif must be a profesional syndicate n they knew how to n where to disarm the tracker system. so u see....any additional system only WASTE ur money nia. if our E60 can be stolen without key on it, mean they r really out to target u n u just bless for the insurance company to pay you only, haha...coz sure no chance of recovering liao

when u go install the captor or whatever tracking devices...the car jacker normally will take u for a joy ride and left u somewhere secluded without any form of communications...then with the time they have it will well on the way out of the country liau or fully strip down for parts liau...

there is no security system in the world that can be disable for use by the authorised ppl is unbreakable...it is only there to delay only as what the thief and car jacker dun have is time...

in conclusion, u wan it to be 100% safe then keep it away from driving. in tat way people wont get attracted to ur car n also wont know u own such car. so ur car can now be pretty much safe for been targeted, LOLLL!!!!we r in boleh land ma so anything also BOLEH happen without giving you any advance notice.
