Saw a MG ROVER 75 on sale for RM65KWhats the Pros and cons?Appreciate your help

Parts are hard to come by & expensive- & these car depreciate fast. It's unique though.

Rover 75 is a nice car & Chinese car maker did reproduce them call- Roawe 75

If there wasn't a thing called resale value, I would have gladly wanted to have a Rover 75 to own... But tales of high maintenance seems to be hard to shake off. I do adore that shape though. Looks really handsome, especially in a dark hue. :top:

I like one in Maroon. I use to remember brunei use to have a lot on the road. but nowadays- Seen them collecting dust at their garage or just park them at workshop(Long term parking).

this is due to the dealership close down & parts not available.

hi geo,

so what is your verdict? grab it? i prefer the CDi version which is infact a BMW 320d engine (detune abit). but at least engine parts are similar to Land Rover Freelander Td4 or 320d. alternatively, get the 1.8Turbo one. better low end torque compare to 2.0 V6. maybe the ZT75 with 2.5 Turbo charged...yummy.

they are ok cars but plagued with premature blown head gasket problems. believe me, i had 2 Rovers with blown head gaskets while I was in the UK. something to do with the faulty design of the K-series engine.

Whats the Pros and cons?

Appreciate your help

Pros :

(1) The car looks very posh, with all that chrome and leather. From afar, it actually looks a lot like a Jag.
(2) Ride & handling - the 75 borrowed a lot of BMW chassis tech, including the Z-axle from the E36 3-series. Handling is not BMW-sharp (no thanks to front wheel drive) but it will beat most Jap mobiles hands down.
(3) Cabin ambiance - if you like Jags, Rolls Royces and the like, you'll like the 75's cabin. Its Cool Brittania all the way! ;)

Cons

(1) Parts will be hard to source, especially for the petrol engines, since Rover went bankrupt quite a while ago, and the K-series engine which the 75's use are no longer in production. The diesel-powered 75's will be easier to care for since they use BMW's 2.0 diesel lump, shared with the Land Rover Freelander and the 320d (E46)
(2) No official support - the dealership, Brooklands Motors, has switched to selling Citroens instead.
(3) Not many independent workshops familiar with this brand or model. You'd be lucky if they even have the correct software to run diagnostics.

Good luck, bro!
