so, did u manage to pull your car to the side? or wait for tow truck? it sounds like there is a nuclear warhead that went off and the shockwave shut down your power source. I saw an E46 in morning rush hours stuck in the middle of the flyover near damansara uptown and causes a massive jam, everyone just pass him and 'jeling' him. must be damm tension and frustrated.

sounds like a lemon to me.
happened to a friend who owns an 07' golf gti .

he had problems with aircon leaks, coolant sensors lighting up but coolant is fine.

changed 3 sensors in 1year on the new car.
his car was in VW for 1month or so , they still couldnt find the source of the aircon leak. removed his dash /insulation & everything .

VW just returned his car intact & thats it.
air con is fine so far, but my friend have had enuf already with the car & VW's service.

he might get the e90 325i :)

just sharing a story of the lemon. which can happen to any new car.

My 4 months old E90 also cannot start this morning but after scrambling with the controls, unplug the FOB and try again, it started.. got panic for a while there.

On first press of "FIRE" button, no engine crank, few indicator lit, head light on and leveling initiated, aircond is blowing, radio is singing. One of indicator light is DTC and before I can read the rest, the big exclamation came up and other indicator no more. Before I can access OBC to read the exclamation fault, my missy unplug the key and everything gone.

When plug in the FOB again, this time I off auto head light, off radio, off aircond... takut battery weak ma.. :p Then fire again, no problem this time. Hope nothing serious.. :(

...and keeekeee, please update us on your E60...

Thanks and good luck!

Take it easy bro. I know how you feel. Even brand new aeroplanes that cost millions also can have problems, especially when they are new. BMW is a good car, good brand. I am sure Sapura will take this matter very seriously. Don't give up hope yet. Japanese cars have less problems but I don't think you want to revert back to Japanese cars after driving BMWs. You should be thinking of upgrading to a Porsche perhaps. But a Jap car? Why? Reliability? We should move forward with technology, not move backwards in the name of reliability.

Take care.

yeah i luv my bimmer of course. actually i tot abt buying AP which is cheaper but i worry recond got prob. Tats why i bought a new one from Sapura. Damn it gave me the same problem. Lucky i wasnt outstation and it was daytime.

My dad always told me tat no money dun buy. If wanna buy then get a new one without worry. Man it still happened to me :(

keekee...can i check with you when do you normally refill ur fuel tank?

izzit after the first warning that says fuel reserve or second warning when remaining distance is 50km?

If i am not mistaken the fuel pump is a submersible type in the fuel tank and since it is a high pressure type it is not advisable to have a very low fuel level...if it is frequently subjected to low fuel level condition it can fail very fast...

My recon E60 530 also had alternator problems. I was driving on the highway then suddenly my auto-cruise cut off and couldn't restart. Thought maybe just cruise problem so continue my journey. Then few minutes later, air cond went off. Then iDrive display started to blink. Then was really worried, tried to drive on and make it back home. But a few km later, kena Active Steering error..... then ABS error.... finally last straw was when kena Transmission Fault. Decided not to take risk and moved car to the side lane. Once there, switched off car and all electronics (including lights) couldn't be turned on again. Guess with the alternator conked, it was on battery power all the while and slowly battery juice just got sucked dry.

Had to tow it to workshop and change a new one. Luckily still under dealer warranty then.

What you did was right. My dad also used to say the same thing. The way look at this matter, the "test" is not on you. But rather is on Sapura. What is their next course of action, being relatively new player in the market as compared to AB? Let's see whether they are able to keep their promise or not. The E60 is the first experimental car from Chris Bangle. It has so many "firsts". Having said this, it has a lot of mysteries. Sorry if I scare you. In the E90 most of the "mysteries" has been solved or rather corrected. They have to get it right for the 3 series because it is their bread and butter, their best seller. Most of the problems in the E60 can be corrected by reprogramming. If this fails, they will reprogram again. In extreme cases, they even changed the whole engine, and if you are lucky enough they should change the car for you. This is the service expected from BMW.

Sad to hear all the problems associated with the UDMs. Sometimes I find it unacceptable for the amount of money we pay, we get the performance but NOT reliability and constantly suffer the heartache of sudden breakdowns or malfunctions. Sure makes one lose heart. Wonder how after all these years BMW & Merc are still lagging behind Toyota and Honda when it comes to producing reliable cars :(. Something's not right here

i had similiar problem about 2months ago. my fuel had below 50km radius before i tank up my petrol to full. upon leaving the shell station, within 20meter, my car go off suddenly and i start to scaring myself. but within second.., i engage back my gear to P and re-start the car. luckily its come alive to me and had no problem untill to-date except for sometimes my tv monitor attempt to restart itself (radio also gone) with car running on the road. till now, i never wait wit a tank radius of lesser than 100km b4 i top up the fuel. sigh....wonder wats wrong wit now a days beemer.
