New Camry Vs Facelift Accord

Poor man's BIG car

i've test drove the latest Camry in M'sia after looking at the superb looking body. The interior is definitely not suited for young executive taste, they made the Camry so 'UNCLE' taste.. Beige color seats, dashboard and door and dashboard with wood panels and plasticky dashboard really turns me off. I know a lot of people like the exterior but try to just seat in it without driving it. It already puts me off.....though the driving experience is good, i still think it's not the car for me or other young executive below 40s.

In Sydney, i've sat on a new Camry taxi, fully black inside, that was much better but if you compare to even the 3 series, anytime the 3 series - e46 or e90 beats it hands down from interior and exterior, probably even the driving experience.

Sadly, from the interior, my summary of the current new Camry in Malaysia -
'Poor man's BIG car'.

Having said that, i wouldn't mind someone give me one for free...Hahaha. But then again i probably sell it later after 6 months to buy a e46 or e90. Hahaha.

I'm collecting my company Camry 2.0G next week. I chose it cos of the looks to me looks so much better than the half-baked Accord. Cos it's a company car, I couldn't suggest anything else more gung-ho. Well, at least I've my E92 for the weekends and to hiaw....

Juan Powerblow,

You are such a lucky dude, for company car, no complains lar, if my company give me a MYVI, i won't complain too. Hahaha.

Anyway, when you get your new Camry, i would like to know your comment on the Camry vs E92. I'll probably think you will agree with me.

yeah, it will be good to hear your comments on the comparisons. Am actually considering ditching the Bimmer for something more reliable.

 Ooopsss, shhhhhhhhhhh...... did i just said that??? :(

Oh, I've test driven the Camry on the Penchala Link which is one of my more frequent routes and it's worlds apart, mate! On those long sweepers, the Camry felt unsettled at 120 kmh whilst in the E92, I'm constantly being tempted to reach new limits! It's so much more fulfilling in the E92 and I suppose, the E90 too. Too bad the price is also world's apart! Shucks!

No point if we compare BMW vs Camry..If compare with Lexus, that's the point..even i never drive Lexus la..

c-square,

what's not reliable ? it's your car in particular or BMW in general ? Appreciate you sincere comments...hehehe.

Ultimate Driving Machine is for true enthusiast:D

I think the new Camry looks better than the outgoing facelifted Accord. Here's a pic of Honda's new Accord which should be out worldwide later this year and CKD'ed in Malaysia early next year.

New Accord

I've test driven the new 2.4 Camry just before I bought the E90. The Camry looks great (even better with a Toyota addon bodykit!). It was quite a disapointment to me, as although the car has european lines, and to me resembles something which looks Lexus, it didn't drive like so. It didnt feel solid at all, and engine note on the high revs was ... neither inspiring nor silent and smooth... Neither here nor there.

It was BIG, comfy, floaty, numb, and just boring to drive. If you like driving and pushing the car once in a while, you'd get pretty bored with the new Camry pretty fast IMHO. If you like something reliable, comfy and big which is cheaper than a euro imports, its a great buy!

Have droved the GS300 along penchala link, the car felt fast even goin at 160. The 3.0 has the pull but numb steering and poor body control, it's not meant to be a driver's car. Come to think of it even when I was a passenger, it wasn't that comfortable as compared to say W211. At RM 400K, for comfort I wld go for the W211, for drive appeal, i'll take the E60.

Yeah c-segi, and after ditching your Beemer for a Jap, you will feel gian again and get another Beemer in no time... seen that happening.:D :D

yucks... the new accord looks more to the 80's lines, wedge lines and square...

I heard the 2008 Honda Accord will be out in March next year in Malaysia. So perhaps it might be worth while to wait for that since the current model is just looking rather dated. Tho the new Accord looks better than the current model, I think the Camry still better.

There are some spy photos of the new Accord on most of the popular car web sites like www.worldcarfans.com. Just go do a google and you'll find the spy pics.

U will not used to drive the Jap car after u drive Germany car..trust me..somemore u own ur e34 b4..i strongly recommend u go for e39..

My E34 still with me tho' ..and another E30... emm... its not an easy decision, but that C & A are fading awy now... heh..

The huge body makes the camry under power especially when overtaking cars. Same like the Honda accords where the RPM and the power not syncronize to each other

in my opinion, the camry looks good and muscular and much better looking then e60, pity it's a jap car..

After a short test drive, my daughter said the camry ride felt like the E60. So, how?

Jerman..honest, the lines of the new camry is in my books, with the price tag of 167k with body lines like that, muscular, it hides the size of the car, good value.. 6months waiting period for the 2.4G and Honda is loosing sales...

Honda should consider bringing in the 2.4L 200bhp i-vtec engine for the accord (JDM version) as installed in the odyssey.
