BMW needs a new 8-series to trounce the SLR. Until then, it's hard to argue that BMW makes better sports oriented cars. Since the latter already has a stonking engine in the M5, what's keeping them from coming up with a low, wide body?! Chris Bangle out of ideas issit?!

I believe BMW is focusing on the fast selling models.. 8 is targeting to nitch market

i'd reserve my comments till i've driven both the e90 and the w204.contrary to what KL2DC said,i think the w204 will look terrific with an AMG or Brabus treatment.the e90 also looks fantastic but needs at least 18"s.
i've driven the e90 325i and i'll have to say i was pretty impressed with the experience apart from the lethargic but smooth 2.5..

all in all, both are destined to be good cars..such is the fierce competition between them.i'd have to remind us all though that audi's new a4 will be a much improved car when it eventually comes out and it will have what the e90 and the w204 lacks..a small capacity turbo engine choice(2.0 T FSi) mated to a DSG gearbox.this will be a deciding factor for petrolheads like me who currently drives jap turbo monsters and will be upgrading into the segment.i also won't remind u of audi's terrific build quality..

I came from owning a honda to the E90. Not sure what zongee meant but E90 feels like a honda? Urrr which honda are you referring to? The diff to me is almost like heaven and earth ;-)

maybe Zoggee meant its too sanitized.. u feel detached from the car's contact patch to the road.i would agree to a certain degree.take a spirited drive in an e30 and then the e90..u'll see what i mean.

but yes,Hondas and BMWs are just not the same class of cars, except maybe the NSX-R la.

Hahahaha! Danc, you velli farnee lah. Yet again, if you have seen what Zoggee does with his yellowfever, it does provide an added perspective! :)

yup..mr Zoggee is quite the driver.and his yellowthingy is quite the car too!!

Zoggee saying that the E90 is like a Honda is a figure of speech. Supergripen calls it sanitized, I call it lux. Zoggee belongs to the purist group, to whom the best and only 3 is the E30. Even the E36 is sissy. I have Porsche friends who dislike the perfect handling behaviour of the current 911s. To them, a Porsche must be almost purely mechanical and it's propensity to oversteer nastily must punish lesser drivers.

To each his own. I like the increasing lux-ity of the 3, but I won't begrudge Zoggee his preferences and won't be offended when he says the E90 feels like a Honda. :D

Have I hit the nail on the head Zogg?

Oit...!!!! Zoggee pounding session ah??? Dun let me see you guys on the road.
Wait until I see Supergripen Rex..I'll drive you crazy.
As for Geofreylee....you wanna sit with me ah??
Schwepps,at least my Yellow sunmarines feels like Super BUSA..very ruf detergent.

even AE86 gives me more steering feddback...

* wearing nuke protection suit liao...*

* cabut *

:D :D :D I like E30s BTW. My ex-GF used to drive one and I had fun with it (and her) too.

Forgive my ignorance, Zoggee, but what's AE86?

off topic ,

sorry...here's whats an AE86 is. :cool

But ..seriously. when I test drove E60 the last time at Sri Hartamas,I purposely jamned the brakes to test the ABS at 150kmh . It's shity....

But I love the E66 730i...ask the Bukit Bintang branch sales girls by the name of
Sara. I love it...ans she love it too..cos she keep looking in between my leg while I was driving. I dunno why...but she keep staring at my zippers.

As for Merc...I love their brakes.I dunno why. I love them.

Kind of agree with everyone on the new C-Class...looks a bit weird on photos but may be different in real metal ;)

In the absence of a 325 Sports to test drive, I've been researching up on the new C and it's beginning to look interesting. Even the looks are beginning to grow on me although I still think the E90 looks more dynamic. And the C230 is expected to be a 204hp V6 mated to a 7G-TRONIC box!

BTW KL2DC, in your earlier post, if you were refering to the big star in the grill as a Chrysler-inspired tendency of the yanks to paste giant emblems up front, I must point this out to you: The big star in the grill has been a Merc design for long time in all the CL and SL models, including the present ones. Even the celebrated 1952 gullwing 300SL had it.

You like wikipedia, so check these out:

Anyway, the Classic and Elegance is expected to retain the traditional bonnet star, and only the Avantgarde will have a three horizontal bars grill and a large centre-mounted star. I quite like the look actually. ;)

You understimate me  Of course I am familiar with that design element...

I was referring to the star badge to overall grille area ratio....the badge in the W204 appears larger in proportionate to overall front grille area. Something Detroit is keen of lately, witness the new Cadillac Escalade and Chrysler Aspen.

Sorry, but I don't see it as being bigger than previous applications of the design, including on the gullwing 300SL and iconc R107. And it's virtually the same grill as on the present CLs and SLs.

My point is that I don't think it's fair to pin it on the yankee connection, not whether one likes it or not. And I think the germans are the stronger party in the marraige. Anyway it looks pretty good to me...more dynamic than the standard grill and star on bonnet...

i tend to agree with u on the new C..its kinda grows on ya the more ya look at it.i love the flared arches, the mini CL look and the interior looks more imaginative than the e90.

one thing that always sways me towards bimmers though..the engines.design wise,i think the C has won..in my eyes at least.now i'll have to wait and see if the new Merc line of engines will be worth the wait.

..and there's the 'small' matter of the all new Audi A4 that'll be coming out soon.from what i've read, the A4 will run the class pretty close..
