Sifus, what you got to say about the A4...Looks Awesome and with some cool features..Thought of getting this as ssecond car..

There was much anticipation esp with Audi claiming this car will "bludgeon the 3-series to a bloody death..." But most of the reviews I read concluded this car is only an improvement (evolution) of the predecessor, not close enough to the handling dynamics of the E90. I haven't test driven it but the old A4 which I did drive from KL to Singapore once felt like an able cruiser, just not entertaining or sure-footed enough on the bends.

I rather upgrade to an E90 325i Sports cos that's a stonking good car and quantum leap from E46. This, I speak from experience.

the new A4 is a LOT better than the 320 E90..performance wise, killer looks..i'll buy the A4 if i were u.. :)

A4 is much more better man.....even though i like beemer...........but i have to admit that the new A4 is nice.......................

Top Gear still gave their vote to E90 despite E90 is the earliest among the 3 rivals (C-Class and A4) to come up with new model, giving ample time for these 2 rivals come up with a better model.

Maybe Top Gear is bias..

Audi what????
New C claimed they had improved the handling but nuh..not even close to E90
Less ergonomic and less sporty.
Audi A4 I didn't bother to test drive except for Q7.
Plus.. personally I dun like the logo and the name Audi itself..sorry

Luxury + sport = Audi ???:hmmmm2:

Top Gear voted otherwise when they tested the RS4 vs the M3!

For the E90, the test covers practicality, spaciousness, handling, power, fuel economy.. the E90 may lose few aspect of it C-Class and A4 but still emerge as an overall winner. So it really depends what u want.

A4 confirm win on traction!

For the uninitiated, the engine in the Audi A4 is placed longitudinal (similar to the BMW RWD) but still driving the front wheels. This design means the most of the engine weight is in front of the front axle. Not the best recipe for a good handling car.

Read somewhere that the front suspension design is taken off the A5 which places the engine further back compared to the current A4. What this means is less front overhang which translates to better handling..

I guess that only apply if you're in a market for RS4 and M3.

I just can't live with the model name being named after paper sizes...

True but, based on writeups, I think the B8 A4's engine is now behind the font axle. Donno how they did this as you pointed out it is still driving the front wheels.

From Paul Tan's writeup:

The A4 has a drag coefficient of cd=0.27. Audi claims a sportier drive and better steering feel thanks to an engine that is positioned behind the front axle and a lower steering which will result in better steering feedback. Suspension behaviour can be changed via the Audi drive select system - more on how this works or how effective it is to come with an upcoming test drive review.

go for audi..
why dont you try something different
after all,u already owned a bmw
the most important thing is Test Drive the car first

I when for a test drive today and to my suprise, the car handles very well - steering was direct and the car feels very agile. It's neutral with a very slight over steer on the bends but the grip was amazing for a FWD. Select the sport setting, found the suspension was too stiff for my liking...more suitable for autobahn and not on bolehland roads. The 1.8 TFSI was very responsive and I hardly felt any turbo lag as it was smooth all the way till the red line. It's 8 speed multitronic gears are smooth too. This is despite having 160hp but the torque was pretty respectable at 240Nm.

The cockpit is a special place to be in. The seating was snug with all controls aligned to the driver. It has a colour screen with MMI function ( Audi's version of I-Drive) and the material used and fitting was top notch.

If I have'nt taken delivery of my W204 Advangrade 3 weeks ago, I would have booked this baby for sure. Sorb.........

Verdict : A true contender to the highly competitive luxury compact serdan. Thumbs up Audi!

To me the engine is still the no 1 priority and bmw still make the best engine. bmw can extract more power from a smaller capacity and don't need turbos and when bmw put turbo on their engine , it just blows away the competition.

You C200k should have had noticably more grunt than the 1.8T. Was this significant in your test drive?
