Terry am interested too

Let me experiment first - need Herbert's advise on where to cut key. Will order next week coz this week i am a little busy. A few ppl from another bmw forum did get it working. I think that since most are trying using their spare keys which they been keeping for years in a drawer so the batteries must be weak and the new flip key's circuit board is a little further away from the ignition.

I understand what they meaning of L shape. It means, you have to cut the key shell to let the key blade to fold another so that it become L shape and let the remote get near to the EWS antenna (ignition coil). And you have to stay into L shape all the way you driving your car. I am sure you will not happy for this solution.

I think you hit the bullseye. I also believe that the main reason for some cases not to work is becoz the circuit board in the new key is too far from the ignition and it doesnt help if some of them have weak batteries.

Then is give and take situation. If you dont want to put into L shape then you have to make a transponder to start the engine with the original diamond shape remote which not charge the battery in this moment.

I dont understand why China wanted to design the flip button at front of the key. It can be design behind the key and leave the space for remote to put near the ignition coil.

If u 'desperately' want to use the flip key just pick the transponder n stick it permanently near the ignition. Sure can start everytime.. and so does anybody who has the key..

For the newer keys the transponder is on the circuit board

Just confirmed with 1 of the forummer. He put transponder chip in the flip key and able to start the engine. Just is that his e46 using IR remote key. Now he wanted to convert IR remote to BMW original setting 3 buttons remote. He is asking my help. If this project is on then will be a very interesting big project. But the problem is how to get a full set of amplifier antenna cable from chop shop. Normally chop shop will cut this cable into half.

tweiboon,

If rambolee said that the blade for e60 is not long enough and that it work for e46, he must have a solid basis for saying that. No-one will be so bold to made this type of statement in an open forum. For your info, I met up with rambolee last week and we tested it on my e60. So please be more humble in the way you phrased your questions.

Perhaps I would like to add that rambolee has a fully equipped shop with latest technology to provide specialize key cutting for all types of vehicles. In addition this info, his company will soon be one of our club vendors.

Hi guru Herbert, can you advise me which shop to go to cut the key ? Thanks. I have a good feeling this key fob will work.

I knew rambolee is a locksmith and he asked me to provide him the BMW IR remote last time.

If he proves that blade not enough long is meaning he is not getting the good quality flip key.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPDCVqXGGBU
what is this video showing ? The video showing flip key blade enough long but not able to start the engine due to original diamond remote too far away from ignition coil.
If this video not enough to prove what i tried to tell then i have to buy a good quality of flip key and show you guys.

Beside this i really saw the flip key with china remote and transponder can start the engine and remote is working.

Since we knew rambolee is locksmith, ask him to help you to convert original diamond shape remote into flip key and start your engine.

well, let me see......you seems to have answers for everything, don't you?
