any sifu here to share? He mention that this is normal to BMW cars, need to change oil lubricant more frequent (less than 10km once).....

Holly crap!
How often did the owner service his machine?

He (Owner) knows even BMW's need to change lubricant right?

I have seen e60 (used from UK) with similar engine condition at my mechanic's workshop. The problem lies with infrequent replacement of lubricant. If you follow BSRI, chances are the engine will suffer similar condition. From the pixs above, replacement with another used engine will be a better option as overhauling the existing engine will not be economical.

This is the problem with following 25k km service interval strictly from the manufacturer. Anyone have any idea if this is isolated to M54 or N52 engines? I know regardless of which engine, it'll suffer the same fate if follow BSRI. But, it'd be interested to know which occurrence is higher for which engine.

This BSRI thingy is total BULL SHIT RESERVICE INTERVAL.
How can any oil last 25k km ,especially not in OUR climate! This is not the first report!
Yes am aware that this BSRI thing has been discussed and debated but still.......how to buy e60 laidis if the PO has been sticking to BSRI?

true enough...just adopt old school science. the best way is to change the lub on our own at recommended mileage without resetting. done by many e60, e90 etc owners.

so far, so good! no such predicament existed.

I think it also takes a fair amount of common sense by owners. If the car runs, obviously it needs oil, and with hard running, it will require a fresh change every 5K~10K kms. Like bro moots put it, with our climate, all the more reason lubricants must be frequently changed.

Common Sense, u cant use the same tissue paper to wipe ur a$$ over and over again right??

I heard my friend said, after 100,000km on dashboard, need to put in special chemical to wash away all the burning lubricant in the engine....but i dont believe in 25000km services interval too.......meanwhile, i just bring in my 3er to Quill...

any special info need to take care...

not sure....some sort like to flush the engine maybe.....anyhow, i think the engine oil used is not good.

Friends,
The problem with most so called specialist or pro or what not mechanics, do they know the fact that ultra-modern alloy-made engines needs very specially designated oil for them? I've gone thru one fact that mentioned incorrect oil will chemically reacted to this alloy to form some especially unwanted/damaging substance that will later slowly damage the engine. That's how we'll see those charcoal like substance that chock-up the engine.
So remember yourself, in BMW's userbook, it's mentioned what's BMW oil designation used for the particular engine. Eg BMW longlife (LL) 01, 02, 03, 04 and so on. For eg Shell Helix ultra 5W/50 put LL02, Castrol Edge Sport 0W/40 put LL04.
So make sure your lubricant has these BMW spec stamped on it. If you do, I don't see any reason why BMW service standards is wrong.
