E39 Radio (with OBC) problem.. pls help me

Hi guys..need help regarding my death radio..yesterday when i was driving.. suddenly my radio going to "sleep"at first the display (on monitor) show the radio channel and the switch on light still have..after try to get back the voice.. i'm switching off..then.. can't be powered on.. but the display on the LCD still have..all OBC/ navigation still functioning well.. but no radio/cd/tv appear when selected..go to various shops.. they check everything.. no fuse blown, no socket loose..pening kepala dah..please help me.. guide me to the shop that can solve this problem pretty good enough for me..thanks guys.. will post the pics. of my radio/obc later..tqvm :rock:

check also if you have other systems not working ie. auto crz s/w kenot on,window not working.if got these symptoms,try play play n wiggle wiggle yr ignition key as it may be related to the ignition contact cluster at the steering column......

all system working good..

- cruise control working
- all indicator working
- even display on monitor working..

here's th pics. as promise.. try to push radio/player button (on left side) but still the orange indicator beside the button not appear.. (mean no power may be)

as i said.. the function of OBC functioning well.. television no signal.. sat nav. ok..

Beside than the fuse in the glove compartment, there is a fuse located in the boot near the battery. Fuse No 58. I had the same problem with you and this was the cause. Good luck.

yep.. that fuse in glove compartment has been checked by accessories shop and they check also the one (red color no.58) in the boot.. but both fuse still ok.. but may be i'll try to replace it !!

just came back from another accesories shop (normally deal with bmw & merc)...
he said if fuse blown the display totally gone..
now.. the "code" appear on the screen.. what should i do? getting a code ?

You have to key in the code. Usually it is 4 digits code and a security code. When the power is down or your set is removed, it will prompt you to key in the code when it power up again. If you key in the wrong code, you are allow another 2 tries. If you fail to key in the correct code, it freeze the display and tell to try again in another hour. (meanwhile wait and @#$%^&* at the person who design the security feature :burnout

According to the BMW WDS, the sound of the RADIO and CASSETTE could be disable if the "TP" is activated. TP is the traffic broadcast. (Malaysia Got meh???)

bro, I hope you got the security code or the previous owner have it.. If you dont have, you have to search for somebody who can break the code. Hint: serial number on the HU.

Cassette / CD operation is interrupted by the radio; unable to return to the cassette / CD operating condition.
Cause: The TP function is on and the station inadvertently broadcasts the traffic information identifier (TA). This interrupts the cassette / CD operation.

Note: The old status can be restored by switching off the traffic information function (press TP).

I can't find the code.. after read the manual.. the code never been set.. and if i set the code... the car should be entered that code every time to b4 moving.. adoii.. sakit kepala den..
dah berapa hari drive the car like sitting in the cave.. i try to seek for the TP function.. but can't find where is the function hiding..

MK I, II, III, IV refers to the BMW Navigation Computer. Has got nothing to do with OBC.

Did u just change yr battery or jumpstart yr car recently? i heard that cud cause the distraction too...i,ve read somewhere in the forum..cant find which thread now..

nope.. it's happened while i was driving the car..
suddenly the audio stop but the radio display still there..
i try to switch off the radio.. but after that, cannot power on.. the only thing left is OBC display.. as photo.. btw, anybody installed this radio to their UDM ? (eheh.. now i know how to use the terms.. eheh)

after almost 2 months driving silently.. yesterday.. the problem has been revealed..
actually my Amp (DSP) have some problem.. one of my friend borrow me his radio and DSP unit..
firstly change the radio but same problem.. then change the DSP unit.. and the radio can be turned on.. hahahah..

Last 2 weeks i bought HLG unit to replace this radio but after take out the radio, my car can't do plug n play..
have to do some modifications.. then i refused to do since i don't like wire cutting.. fuhh !! really lucky not to do that..
no i hv to find new DSP unit.. !! hahahah..

btw, My HLG unit (brand new.. never been installed) up for sale cheap2 one..
hahhaha.. anybody interested pls PM me...

Bro, the HLG do not request any wire cutting even u have the DSP. Who tell u that u need to modified by cutting the wire?

Anyway, u can get the DSP in ebay for about RM800.

ermm.. now I shop around here first and if can't find.. have to seek from ebay..

Thinking of putting HLG if no wiring cutting.. can view DVD somemore.. ermmm..
the only thing is OBC.. help me to sell my HLG bro..

No, they don't know handle BMW. What u need is an extra cable. That's all.

I know many funny accessory shop that they even call me how to install the reverse camera!

Regarding your radio system, i afraid u need to change the whole system. May be someone else can answer.

no need to change the whole system.. just change the DSP.. since i replace my friend's DSP the radio is ok already.. my worry only the DSP not as same as the previous one.. (in term of radio freq.).

any idea ?
