E30 Parts & Maintenance

Yeah, I am looking at the OEM ones. As long as it's good enough to replace my current ones which starting to show signs or wearing out. Moreover, my current disc brakes have been skimmed before so I'm not gonna take any risks lol.

So if my disc brakes are of vented ones, the Brembo OEM disc brakes should fit fine right? As in like a universal fit? Cos if the original M40 disc brakes have been converted from solid to vented discs, there shouldn't be any problem in fitting or is there? Not sure how to explain it, hope you get my point lol!

wondering if m10, m20 n m40 using the same tie rod end?
my m10 got no power steering so i guess the steering rack is different and so is the tie rod end
anyone using m10 here know the price for tie rod end?
my car start vibrate already duo to my tie rod end its time to replace it already.
 
1st, dont flame me coz i tried looking for it but cant seems to find in the forum, so not sure if anybody have asked the same questions over n over again..

Im just tryin to get some budget in mind as now im currently doing bodywork for my LHD 316 e30..i think its M20 cos it got the old type tail lamp. I know none bout BM, so bare wit me if the it sounds stopid!

I need to now know the price range for halfcuts or maybe one car(as I may need to use all the parts avail to recover from my long list stolen parts) from chop shop.

318i (I heard there are 2 type.. mtech(twin cam) and the normal 318(single cam)
what s the range like for auto and manual halfcuts.

I not going for super fast e30..so Im limiting my option to 318 as easier to deal with at JPJ(as my original cc is 316 LHD..duhhh). If I were to buy a halfcut, would it come with all the necessary bodykits for the car?what should i get from buying halfcuts? just the front engine and front parts??or more?

help needed so it helps me to know the price range and not be conned by the seller... Cheers to all.
 
many still stoned cos e30 316 LHD is ...SAY WHAT?

318 twin cam is mtech and....M20....SAYS WHO? soli, i dunno 4 pot stuff but pls check ur facts cos as far as I know M20 is 6 pot engine.

anyway to get u started, just buy half cut, wire harness n all but sell the steering rack since urs is a LHD. Body kits are additional cost n not included.

happy modding but do ur survey at chop shops for latest pricing.

BTW, THIS IS WRONG PLACE TO ASK SUCH QUESTIONS! THIS THREAD IS FOR MAINTENANCE COST DATA BASE. Not shouting, just reinforcing my words....

i think yours is M10 engine

not many E30 halfcuts nowadays...the cheapest i found was 2k and it goes up to 12k. But again, the price depends largely on what comes with it e.g. extras like bodykit, nice set of wheels LSD, sport seats bla bla bla. but the common upgrade i.e. M20B25 should be around 4k with no bodyparts. so shop around la and compare prices, see which gives u the best value. Since your car is LHD, then get the LHD cuts, should be 10-20% cheaper ;)

318 comes in 3 engines actually, the older 1-cam M10 (yours) & M40 (those CKD cars) and the 2-cam M42

The 316 LHD was brought from moscow and was abandoned for quite sometime, so now its time to revive it although looking at the condition now is terribly sad with broken lamp, stolen front grill ..and the list goes on. i tot of converting to RHD as its troublesome to drive it here and that would also be the main reason im looking for halfcuts so i can get all the part needed for the conversion.

Car shakes when stationary, so took to mechanic n he chk n said engine n gearbox mounting kaput. got him to do normal service too...heres d damage:

Elf normal engine oil x2 (RM40 for 4L) RM80.00
Oil Filter (Hengst, i think) RM18.00
Engine Mounting x2 (rm85 each) rm170.00
Gearbox Mounting x2 (rm65 each) rm130.00
windscreen washer resevoir(used) rm20.00
Workmanship rm45.00

TOTAL RM460.00 disc rm3.00 (Engine wash FOC)

took out d damage mountings...engine mounts senget/crooked one side, gearbox mounts completely brittled/koyak...

Aiya worst of all, car IS STILL shaking whn stationary...shld i get mech to check air flow, tappets and what nots...help any sifus?????

irregardless aircond on or not. advice appreciated.
 
Will be letting my E30 go this week. It has served me well for the last 4 years.

My maintainnace cost has been:-

2003 RM7300 ( Includes Initial cost of to replace wear and tear items, bushes & tyres ,Inspection 2)

2004 RM3700 ( AFM recon RM600,air con, timing belt, distributor cap absorber mounting, maintainance & battery)

2005 RM5500 ( Overhaul Auto Trans RM2300 & Recon Power Steering Rack RM600 & maintainance)

2006 RM4200 ( battery ,tie rod, Brake dics, tyres, bumper, rear speakers, air con & maintainance)

2007 RM 300

Total RM20000

So i averaged about RM5000 per year. I would say it was worth it as I truly enjoyed my E30 driving experience and was without HP installments over the last 4 years. Now of course I look forward to my E36 expereince hopefully for anorther 5 yrs or so.

Sorry was not looking at this thread for a while.

for a MANUAL, your mentioned difference in rpm is not normal.
for a AUTO, this can be the case but I cannot vouch for this.

1100 is anyhow HIGH for whatever car it is - unless race car.

Suggest you check with an experience BMW mechanic. I can suggest mine if you need to do a diagnose and repair at least for this issue.

jules, no probs, am living with the higher idle rpm for d moment, no significant fuel increase as detected, bw mine's auto. 1100 is only when in neutral so while driving the rpms ok. thx for the offer to intro a mech to me but i m in melaka.
 
The cost of my E30 over the past 4 years

Hi guys,

I was just sorting through my E30 maintenance file and made copies of my service record for the new owner of my E30.

The breakdown of what I spent on the car b/w 2003-2007 can roughly be summarized as follows:-

1) MAINTENANCE

(mostly done at Chu Seng Auto Pg incl labour)
Significant items listed out

2003 RM6000
( I spent a large portion of this sum on changing most of the wear and tear items eg bushing, mounting, drive shaft etc) I guess I went out of control chansing all sorts of sounds. I changed the subframe bushing, trailing arm bush,center bearing,used drive shaft,anti roll bar bush, axle carrier bush, power steering repair kit,moto meter, speedo sensor,front lower lip, fan guide, pads, ball joint etc


2004 RM3000
-Battery RM270( battery died after being left overnite at Pg airport)
- Hoses RM400(after a overheating b/down experience)
-Glove Box Lock RM160
-Airflow sensor RM600(recon)
-Inspection 2 RM700
-decarbonizes& clean injectors(M Power, Ayer Itam) RM300

- overhaul auto gearbox RM2300

-accident(change bumper & parts) RM1000

Changed tyres twice and icld balancing and alignment

Mind bogling , I didnt even splurge on mods. In fact the only mod I got was a drop in K&N filter.
