Oh ya ka. Hmm... coz when i was buying my parts at BA, they asked me whether i wanted OEM or original BMW parts. since it is to do with the mechanical part of the engine, i figure better be safe and buy the ori timebelt. The oem costs only around RM 50 compared to RM 224 for an ori it is a big difference.

Anyway thanks for answering.

BTW what happened to your aircon?

My aircond?! Well it started when i heard weard sound every time i turn on the AC... normally i just ignore it. One day i bring my kids to the Zoo(hahahahahaa)... it just stop. Plus i smell something is burning. (Just imaging la... it raining some more!). I went to a aircond shop at Kg Melayu Subang for checking and found out my blower + wiring all burn... including in the fius box.( why my fius didn't burst fist ar?) I need to change everything including wiring. I change the compressure also loh... already heavy la(he said!). Parts i didn't change only cooling coil (copper ma...) & hoses! He investigate some more and found out one of the braket bringing air from outside already broken & melting.(due to touching with blower fan)... its create vacuum inside blower area. So... everything getting worst after that la!
I need to bring my car to the shop again la... if i stop my car. AC not so cold... if moving i just use 1 speed... max 2! 3 & 4... just like north pole! (i never been there...)

hi frenchy ,

hows the japanese aircon performing so far for u ?

i'd say the entire cost of the parts n labour is quite pricey i'd say .

correct me if i may be wrong.

cheers.

bro sgbuloh... so far no problemo. still new ma... and my car slepping all da time. i just bring her jalan-jalan sunday only ar... yup you rit! it's pricey... he said it's normal labour charge to remove and reinstall dashboard... others model no need to remove dashboard.(he said!) lets see wat others comment...

Hi frenchy,

Wow tremendous costs you got there caused by your a/c problem. But what to do, nobody can do without airconditioning in Malaysia especially when you are driving!

But i have to agree with Sgbuloh_e90 that the parts quite expensive. If I'm not mistaken R12 gas only costs RM 25 for regular one. You should probably check with spareparts shop like BA first. Their prices will definitely be lower because mechanics get from them and then markup!

From my a/c servicing earlier this year.
Apr 2007 - Kool-Aire Auto Air-cond (Sri Petaling)
Replaced:
1. Rec. Drier - RM 60.00
2. Pressure switch - RM 85.00
3. Refill R12 gas - RM 25.00
4. Vacuum Oil R12 - RM 15.00
5. Nasa 2 in 1 R12 Compressor oil - RM 38.00
Total: RM 223.00

yea la bro... i also agree. very expensive ar! good advise bro... i'll check with BA next time. well during that time i got no choice... power window trouble and hari raya coming soon. the car also not tinted yet... i got 2 kids some more! feel like driving in a micro wave la... i went two shop at kg subang but they refuse to take my car as they say its difficult to take out the dashboard without breaking it. one of them suggest me to this shop... well kena 'ketuk' la!

The problem is, many bmw workshop won't allow you to bring your own parts, you have to buy from them..then they'll charge you minimum 10% of BA's price...so macam mana pun memang kena ketuk laa...beza banyak dengan sikit jee... RM250 for dashboard (buka & pasang) is ok laa..Prestige Cool (Segambut) also charge me RM250 for dashboard installation(they do lots of luxury cars)

My One Stop Large Bill...

REcently I just change a few things at my car:

1. Oil Filter - RM38
2. 6 Spark Plugs - RM54

5. 1 set Brake Shoes - RM198
6. Rear 4R Absober - RM480
7. BOSH Fuel FIlter - RM78

Another Q: Is there any difference (besides the price) for an original BMW timing belt and other OEMs?

OEM timing belt (RM50~RM60) usually last only 30,000KM then it will snapped.
Original timing belt RM220~Rm230 can last about 70,000KM started to cracked only.

iIt save your time wasted to buy again, labour to change & of coz your safety to prevent overhaulin so soon....

My 2cents..

I've spend around RM2000++ for complete brand new Air Cond system on my car which initially come with heater only.

in your case, some parts are pricey. But i don't mind paying it if its really cold.

what other problem happened to your car now ???

bro kinaka...

so far my aircond got no problem... he just top up little bit gas and work fine so far. it's free of couse... only power window not repair yet. yesterday too bz changing timing belt and AT oil la... maybe next week. so how's your aricond now?

Hi, Can anyone recommend a good ac mechanic for my e30? The probem is that eveytime I put on my ac, I like lose half my power.

Thanks
David

that is normal as the compressor is being pulled by the engine..therefore more load=less power
