M20 & M40 are similar but not the same. However can be fitted and interchangable.

You can change the seal beam to a new one as its cheap and easy diy job. Each seal beam will cost not more then rm30 and you can use the toyota ke model as its the same size. Open yours and bring it to the sparepart shop and get a new one. :smokin: Unless if you have the idea of changing it to projector then get a good used set which will cost you average around rm300-400.

E30 Headlight

Dear all...

My 1991 e30 is having the same problem. The high beam headlights looks very blury. Its like what Rastabimmer says.

The original is seal beam like you said meaning that one will not be able to dismantle the lense to clean it. Like Miepowere puts it, one can get new ones which non-seal beam. I was eondering how much will it cost? Is the new one from Hella, what about Bosch?

Rastabimmer, how much is the polishing of the lense cost?

Thanks.

I believed dr cermin only can polish the external part of the lamp, not the internal part and that provided the stone chips is not that deep. otherwise he also can't do. I did polish my front windscreen cause of the wiper scrath and it cost me RM180

back to the first post, i actually already been used at least 4 sets of headlamp if i'm not mistaken;

1. Bosh smiley seal beam
2. hella non projector
3. Hella projector
4. Bosh projector but non smiley.

Other than the used condition each of it, i find that the Hella projector compare with Bosh projector non smiley, the beam pattern quite different. It is only obvious once you use brighter lamp i.e. HID. Each of Hella projector lamp will have a bright spot in a "V" shape but not non smiley Bosh projector that will produced an even bright spot with better spill. Hope this will help.

Bro oldskool, sorry dunno how cost polish lamp, will check it soon...
Hmm...that's true what bro strider said,dr cermin just polish external part, but our blury lamp come from inside lense lor....

Can u discribe what's mean by smoked lamp??? It's same if we tinted our headlight?? What's diff from OEM headlight???.............

Yo Rastabimmer,

Thanks for the info.

I found out that my high beam headlights is not the seal beam type with the bulb cannot be changed. I might be having the No. 2 type as said by Strider. I will bring it to my mechanic to check.

After checking the internet, the next best option is to change to Hella type H1/H4. I am using Bosch at the moment which might be the original ones.

Can anyone confirm with me that if the bulb can be changed then the headlights is non seal type where the its detachable where the inner lens can be cleaned.

Cheers.. :)
