Fab, you were my benchmark before i changed my engine. haha.

Furthermore, which engine can survive a brutal attack until your flywheel fell apart.

Flwheel fell apart? hehe.. Didn't fall apart lah... The starter ring on the Flywheel came off. It was due to something else.. But i did destroy a clutch plate due to 1 day of drift clinic.

guys, is there a major difference between the E30 M42 1.8L n the E36 M42 1.8L?

zuoom, better no hijak this thread any further. if you want to know more about the M42.. google to read up on the engine... then start another thread to discuss it, if you can find any older discussion thread on the same subject...

U can oso join the M42 forum at www.m42club.com to read more. Do a search there and u'll find lots to read.. FYI, the seasoned forumers not very tolerant on newbies asking commonly asked questions without giving any efforts to search within the forum. If u do ask a common question, they would just ask u to search. ;)

Cheers.

Dude.. If You want to start an E30...
Please please don't put in a JDM Engine la....
There are a lot of choices for BMW Engine...
- M20
- M30
- M40 (4 Cylinder, If in between you want to save fuel for city drive..)
- M50 ( The Best For E30, VANOS BABY)

Well if that's not enough for you.. Add A Freaking Supercharger la...

WERD.....

Why do ppl rape e30s with jap motors when there is a big list of BMW engines out there. :stupid::stupid::stupid:

Pls don't own a BMW for the sake of owning a car, specially 2002, e28, e30. Those models put the BMW name on the books and paved the way for new generation bimmers.

If someone want go sideways, then he should consider other car options (mainly Japs). I personally do not think e30's make good drifters though I know lot of guys here in the States drift with e30's

That is just my 2cents

How about parts availability and cost compare to japanese?
Power output vs capacity compare to japanese?
Workshop availability compare to japanese makers?
And etc.......

To own a BMW is not hard but to maintain BMW is not easy. All the above mention related to cost, if u dun have $$$ so dun own BMW izzit ur meaning? Japanese engines also put their name on books and paved the way for new generation.

Myself also love BMW E30 very much especially the 4 cylinder M3 . Even though i'm not owing E30 now but one day i'll get E30 no matter how... Maybe get the 2.8 single vanos n mated with manual g/box..:top: but roadtax RM1600.00/year

Sometimes, is not we dun wan to stay with ori but the condition not allow. Some ppl wan speciallity, so drop in japanese engine loh, some ppl wan brutal power with lower roadtax rate so drop in japanese engine loh... Only different type of mentality.

so many choices out there.....choose one you like that is within your budget and is realistic for you, expect what you pay, learn to use it properly, enjoy it....dont go paying rm50 and expecting jessica alba...or getting your manhood extended and not knowing how to use it properly!!

bro d15bsao,if he mentioned in the states....which means....that....they dont have to pay for road tax.....like we do.....they only need to pay for thier car's registration.....which costs....them....approx-60 USD anually.....regardless of engine capacity.......but payment for insurance however would differ from type of cars......as from my understanding.......

if we were to use a 5 litres engine......our road tax....would be more than RM 10k anually........it would be higher....if its not registered as private vehicle........
