Bought this 2 months ago, with an assumption that it can run for at least few months before I can decide which engine to put into. Baby six or M42..Main purpose for a daily driven car which maintains the 'sheer driving pleasure', does the job without much headaches. So i've tested it a few shop lots roads and works fine, new to the buttons on the dash and the behaviour though. Fell in love with it, pay the man and go. Happily going on highway suddenly it was another story, cant go over 80km/h and at 60 was also difficult. Damn.. but nothing bothers because engine swap was already a plan. So I've got the car but cant drive ? Jerking and shuddering all the time.. engine was the next top list ! Transmission too have to change, its an auto by the way. Got them both n put them in it.. found out that the shuddering and jerks was due to a faulty fuel pump. I was thinking it could be RTABs, shaft guibo's and bla bla. However now its done, replaced all necessay parts and slowly building it up.. long way to go

the journey will be long and challenging; but when you finally get her to a state of perfection, you'll realize the sweat and tears are worth it. hang in there, and all the best :top:

Parts to orders/ to replace

1. Steering Coupling
2. All four wheel bearings
3. Brake rotors and pads
4. Emblems front n rear
5. Fog lights
6. Radiator expansion tank
7. Cluster bulb (too dim at night)
8. paint job !

a competent workshop can complete items 1 thru 7 in one day. item 8 is very subjective.

Thanks sifu mizhan !

Colour is difficult to decide.. we'll see whats the mood la

Had an issue with overheating, during engine transplant didnt get the thermostat and water pump replaced. Radiator was already leaking btw.. replaced the radiator with a new on on saturday but failed to bleed air a few times.. maybe thermostat stuck ? checked and seen no head gasket failuer, no milky water, no water in oil vice versa.

So just purchased water pump n thermostat but forgot the gasket part no. 1721172. Goin to get it later. As this is an after work diy, might forgot to take photos.

all the best...see you went for the m42...not too bad...better get the water system rectified and fixed for long term relief...welcome to the e30 world....hehehehe

overheating issue? did u use the E30 temp sensor or the E36 one at the engine head (beneath the intake manifold), IIRC, they used different signal range. But it's a bitch to remove with the intake manifold in place...

Item #6 or #8.. one is to the ECU, one is for the temp gauge.... Forgotten which is which...

How about thermostat delete? Couldn't get the gasket at Bavarian. No such stock haha. Need to make own. I hope Malaysian weather is ok to delete the thermostat straight.View attachment 30688
