Well, what happened was, the "D" gear does not seem to response well every morning or after i have switched off the engine for a long time. It is fine with "R" gear, but the moment i switch it back to "D" gear to drive forward, it will lag for a while.
Even if it moves, the moment i lift my foot from the accelerator pedal, it will kind of like shake a bit at the beginning of the journey. It works fine after a while on the road.
Was told that my gearbox is currently working at 60% of its intended power, while the 40% was already lost.
I can't tell if mine is a GM1 or GM5 gear box but it is a 2004 E46 318i.
By the way, what is IMHO?

i just got back from one of the recommended gearbox speacilist here and was quoted around RM7,500 to overhaul my E46 318i GM5 gearbox plus changing the gear box cooling system, ie the aluminum box attached to the radiator... is this price reasonable?
i was quite imprssed with him, and think he is an honest guy, but still, would want to listen to all your opinion before i make my final decision on this. well, RM7,500 is not a small sum of money...
please advise...
