If the GTi comes with 206hp @ 8700 rpms it would be an absolute blast...

i'll be happy with 101hp with a manual..wonder how much power the GTI will make? food for thought isn't it?(future upgrade) :nyehehe:
meantime i think lightweight 17s and Eibachs shud do the job nicely.. only hard choice wud be colour la..black? blue? grey? :dunno: ahhh!! choices!!

Be patient, wait for the GTI lah... 1.6, 120hp, 2 doors (only if you can take it) maybe LSD also. Don't forget Suzuki Malaysia boss is a former rally driver (like another (former) car company boss), so its bound to come in!
The only problem is how much? I've been considering what to replace the Bimmer with. I thought I could tahan not having a ride to arse around in, but no point fighting it lah..... My requirements:
- new as possible, preferbaly not registered
- RM100-120k
- looks ok and handles well
- 2 doors preferred.
The closest thing is the 6-speed Celica. But RM125k for a 2000 recon model? No way. A bit of a b.itch image too. Next up is the unsold Fiat Coupe TP. Killer looks and massive power, but I don't like the gearshift, steering or handling. A bit of a risk, maintenance wise. This just leaves the Swift GTI. Fingers crossed. At least it will be a new, new car.

well i actually need 4doors as it will be the main family runabout.. my current kelisa a bit too rough around the edges plus the horrible ride with eibachs around the kampung roads that i live near.. yhe swift will be perfect!!Given how even the "stock" Swift is quickly being declared the Far Eastern supermini driver's choice, I have no doubt whatsoever that the new GTI will meet, and even surpass the ori GTI's legend, fabian.
That said, we have to look at things in context. Back in the day, the fact that the GTI had a twin cam 16 EFi engine was already revolutionary for its time. Hotter 1.6 civics still only had twin carbs / first gen PGM-F1 Si engine. The B6 was also making waves, but there were no other 1.3 hatches worthy of comparison. Charade Gtti springs to mind immediately, but for some reason, they never caught on. Poor handling perhaps? With a sub-1 ton weight and killer handling the GTI was automatically destined for greatness.
Now, there's an incredible variety of sub-hatch / superminis featuring awesome technology (see 4WD turbo tiptronic 1.3 Daihatsu YRV of a few years back even), but none of which are worthy of being the driver's choice. Not even the Jazz, which I think is a competent, but certainly not a communicative, machine. Its not meant to be.

well,i think when people say Myvi they probably mean 'value for money'..its no compare though bcuz the Swift's higher price is due to the preferential treatment that Perodua gets (national car mah!!)..in other markets the Swift is actually quite close to the Sirion(Myvi's cousin)and in terms of equipment and driving dynamics the Swift wins hands down..
the reports i read in mags suggests that the Myvi is not very good in terms of chassis sophistication and the engine is also juz a buzzy 1.3..
i prefer manual cuz it gives u more control over the drivetrain hence better economy and also performance..i don't need an auto cuz where i live there is no traffic jam..except during F1 weekend..plus the price will also be cheaper to boot!!!
also,though perodua makes better cars than proton i've actually had enough of their tinny,buzzy and bouncybumpy cars!!!

anxiously awaiting the delivery of my swift.....
cant help but worry that the new auto policy will affect
all CBU cars...just hope that the car get delivered this week
as promised...
definately there are restrictions on the nos of AP that gets issued....
