yup. that's what it says in the brochure as well. thought the same thing. just different way of calling it? No? and vikes, yours, is it 2.5 si as well? I thought si is the code given after the facelift in 2007? no? is yours bought brand new locally? how long have you owned it? p/s: sorry too many questions. just excited with the prospects of having more people to discuss the car as i'm entirely in the dark.
i've no idea whether really SI or no. It's japs version. I bought it in dec 2009 frm 1 local owner who purchased this unreg car in feb09. I have been using it for close to 2 yrs until now.

2 yrs using it, major problem is the panoramic roof mechanism kaput. for 6yr old car, consider acceptable la this type of wear & tear plus msian weather factor. all in all repair cost RM6k....2 other places quoted 12-13k. other than than, no major issue.

Hallo guys, im new here, wanna look for a good x3 preowned. Ive found one, e83 2005 selling at RM130k with full bodykit. Local spec. Any major part that i should examine closely before i put my life on it?ived post a thread calling for help in the forum. Appreciate somebody can help me?anybody?
amiu, buying used car is depend on luck also. u can bring the car to any workshop who can do a diagnostic (i did this when i bought my X3). But that also won't tell you much. You can also bring to AAM to do an independent assessment on the car for a small fee - also did this before. Anyway, i have X3 if you want to see...hehehe. see detail in the other thread you posted question on buying x3. full service history.

Guys, I am new to this forum. Introduced myself in the newbie thread this morning, thread orig posted by silver arrow. Am interested to buy a 2nd hand X3 but so far learning from small discussion here not very encouraging. Seems to me the repair is costly. I like the X3 look but worry of signing up its gonna put a dent in my pocket. Apreciate your advise.
It's a small discussion as there aren't that many owners around, compared to say the 3 or 5 series. Cost of repairs, don't think it's any different from any other bimmers (all bimmers put a dent in its owners pocket by the way )
It's definitely a small group of X3 owners here, I,ve owned mine for the past 1++ years and it hasn't given me any problems whatsoever since the last warranty claims for the O2 sensors. Besides that, it's the normal service intervals plus wear and tear repairs.
Let me rephrase that. Does the X-Drive system produces any more noise compared to say the E46? I'm not referring to the engine sound. But rather may be the 4WD mechanism?
