I smell the familiar Ozone smell when the a/c is switched on (those who have Ozone generators at home used to sterilize food will be too familiar with this smell). Ozone though may be harmful in greater concentration, is useful in removing toxicity, and smells from an small enclosed area like our car. Any of you guys smell Ozone? Then I found the following trying to search for information on a possible ozone generator built into the F10:http://113.128.178.221:3387/test/plist.asp?classic=VT&TTP=BMW&produ=P&mospid=52152&menu=64&page=64_1657 Question is whether the F10 has a built-in ozone generator?

How to describe ozone?? ... thinking..... a mild clorox smell? If you have seen the display of UV Ozone food sterilizers in supermarkets, take a whif, that's the same smell when you put your nose to the a/c vents when the first 3 secs of a/c air is blown out. I used to put an ozone air-sterilizer to remove smells, with the same effect, so perhaps maybe we won't require that with our new F10. Ozone is very effective, used to remove durian smell in the early days when I used to carry durians in my Honda Accord - 15 mins and all smell competely gone.

Probably that explains why the "new car smell"is rather mild when u first got in the car.

Yup, that explains very much. And perhaps all the toxic plastic smell is reduced?
    New car smell is toxic:

After being made aware by a friend recently, I have been using Auto instead of Recirculate, and even at times with children allowing the outside air to come into the cabin fully. Not interested in the new car smell anymore, very scary facts.

Thanks, paultantk, suspicious confirmed. We learn new things everyday. Wonder why no one ever tells us these things.
