Guys,Need your inputs into this bugging problem I have been having for the last 4 months. There is this very prominent petrol smell coming from my car. I have changed all the necessary petrol hoses, petrol floats, intake manifold gaskets and even injector o-rings but the smell is still there.Any idea what migh be causing this? There is no one location where this smell comes from. sometime its in the car cabin, somethimes it is ffrom the bottom right hand side of the car. Please help!!!Cheers

    1. fuel pump gaskets (left and/or right)
    2. fuel lines underneath body
    3. fuel clip connecting the fuel lines and the fuel filter

the last time i had that prob with an e36, it was coming from the fuel gauge sender unit gasket which had hardened and leaked a little. that was a car in the uk and even then it perished pretty quickly so i wouldn't be surprised if that was where it's coming from since you didn't mention it in your check list. it might be worth a check. easy enough. good luck! don't let those workshop guys earn too much of your dosh now.

This is a common problem with e36. Change the fuel pump cover rubber gasket. You can see it leaking at rear right passenger if u fill up full tank. :eek:k:
