Yes Thompson drove a brilliant race, the Alfa out of nowhere came up with the goods. In the first few races, the Alfas were really poor, can't even overtake privateers BMW & Seat. No doubt not having to carry success ballast helps him to gain speed down the long straight at Valencia.
Next race Thompson will be having 30kg of ballasts on his car so I don't think he will out accelerate other cars so easily.

Nicola Larini (currently 4th in the classification), Augusto Farfus (3rd) and Gabriele Tarquini (5th), will be given 45, 40 and 35 extra kilos respectively, while James Thompson will receive 30 kg as a consequence of his double victory in Spain.
In total 14 drivers are on ballast, including newcomer Anthony Beltoise.
