Dear all, I own a e39 523 currently. I am actually considering getting an e34 (525) or an e36 328 as my second car. However, when I was at my mechanic's place today, I saw an e46 330i 4 door year 2001. My mechanic told me it is up for sale and most of the parts have been replaced last year such as the shocks, recon gearbox, brakes, tires, cooling system. The owner is asking for RM85k and am wondering what is the market value for this car. Anyone can help? Tx

I think 85k is reasonable price but do get 2nd opinion and have it checked at other workshop just to be sure.

How many miles on the clock and why the tranny is "reconditioned"? those are the questions that i would ask and look into

Also ask:-
1) What brand of parts were used to replace the old parts? Were new or secondhand parts used?
2) What's the service history? What oil was used?
3) Is the car accident free? Repainted?
4) What does the GT1 diagnostic show?
5) Is the Registration clear and can it be transfered easily? Any outstanding loans? Any outstanding summonses?

Salut

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the input. Test drove the car and the car is indeed in a pristine condition. Engine and gearbox smooth. The car was imported brand new from Germany and original paint. Not repainted at all. Regularly serviced with full syn and most important part has been replaced throughout last year.

1. four new shocks absorber (boge), damper and mounting.
2. 225/40/18 falken 912
3. all the fluids like engine oil, atf oil coolant etc,
4. aircond belt, fan belt, aircond micro filter.
5. fuel pump assembly.
6. engine termostat, radiator termostat.
7. recon gearbox
8. recon steering rack
9. long shaft coupling
10. brake pads
11. crankshaft and camshaft sensors.

The previous owner bought the car for his wife ..yeah a 330i! and his instructions to our mechanic was to change every part needed to be changed to prevent/minimised a breakdown. Managed to speak to the owner and must say a nice guy!

Btw, the service record shows ATF oil cooler..does the e46 needs that?

sach,

No need to poison me ler...I mean I have with me my e39 and i Just changed my suspension yesterday. I have replaced a lot of stuffs in the e39 in my 8 months of ownership. So with all these expenses incurred, it is not difficult for my rationale mind to decide. well, I BOUGHT THE 330I!!! lol

Congrats... Yeah it seems u dont need much racun at all hahahaha..

I just got the 330i today. I must say it is insanely powerful and fast. SHarp handling but somehow the steering feel is not as tight as my e39. Just one issue with the car tho. The previous owner replaced the centre muffler with an aftermarket muffler. It is noisy and has this boomy sound in the cabin. Will have to look for an original centre muffler soon. Any of you ada lubang?

Congrats on the car bro ... Any pics of it? Also pics of the centre muffler if can :4:

I think the centre muffler is the one marked (1). Will post pics of both my stock e46 and e39 in due course.

I know how the the stock centre muffler looks like (there are two stock versions actually) ... only thing is i'm curious about the aftermarket option.

Yes bro, u r rite..there are two version..has to figure out which one suits my car.

Will get u the photos of the aftermarket muffler..it definitely gives more oomp for power but me uncle liow with a one yewar old kid..dislike the sound..the previous owner paid quite high for the muffler..think RM1600! darn..with that price he should have got an original from BA!!!

U wanna swap?? lol

Like that i'm more unker than you la i've got two kids lol ... Anyhow RM1600 is expensive must be a branded item ... Take pics lerrr. You can go to few exhaust shops in Sunway and ask for a quotation, i'm sure they can do it.
