I like liqui, ravenol, castrol edge, shell ultra, mobil 1, I love them all especially the cheap castrol edge sport from tesco but fav is ravenol as it solved my oil loss issues and engine temp is cooler.

Very much like how you like and love all your girlfriends but there always one we fav hahahah

bro, ravenol is thick enough to prevent oil consumption issue in the n42s? which viscosity are you using on the n42.

Thanks.

I'm on Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 too but I do feel Ravenol 10W-60 is better. Apparently, that particular Ravenol spec is recommended/used on BMW M Cars.

Still have 2 bottles left of Helix Ultra from Tesco promotion of RM99 per bottle so prolly switching back to Ravenol once I finish the 2.

which ever oil you use event the ones that would cost you rm40 perbottle is OK ..it's all depends on how well you do your routine service job ..

my engine oil usually drain out every 45 ~ 60 days ..or if a little lazy maybe 65 days ...millage clocked somewhere around 2~3K only ...

Should be 5-40, my next change is due in 2k, hope shell ultra or castrol edge is as good

Thanks to tesco, friends donation and etcs I have

1 shell helix ultra
3 castrol edge sport
3 castrol magnatec
2 shell helix HX7 semi

By the way I have 3 cars to maintain hahaha

Im on Torco Fully Syn 5w40 and occasional Q8 Fully Syn 5w40.

I have tried the oils below:

1) Pakelo - Smooth ride but get heavy after 3k
2) Engine UP - Engine feels light and smooth, lower temp and easy revving but too darn expensive
3) OWS - Eliminates ping sound, easy revving, low temp even high rev.
4) Rowe - Not much difference with OWS

I have 4 cars to maintain (X3,E46,E36 and E30)

I;m using castrol magnatec 10w-40 but still losing oil. any suggestions? mine is a m54 2.2litres.

really depends on my driving i think, 500-1000miles, may need topping up. no white smoke etc, so dont think its anything major.

yeah mine is in miles, but still quite alot. at least oil is cheap at 10w 40

Do try mobil 1 5-50 from tesco, do advice if it work for you

hmmm going back to fully synthetic? I thought i should be dropping in viscosity, my mechanic said shld try mineral next, pls advise if i m wrong.

Actually what is the best way to check engine oil level from the dipstick? I read the manual which says 5mins after the engine is turned off.
So if i check it 5mins after, prob about 500-600miles (roughly 800km), it would be almost at the low end. But if i check it in the morning when the engine is dead cold, prob only top up after 1000+ miles.

should check valve seals.
try Voltronic Touring TURBO.
expensive but the effect is really there.
