BTW mine is black with Carbon fibre strips interior (m3 inspired i think) so does all the Japan Specs i seen in KK,Sabah ... GREY Interior=Rare,
yeah i think ive seen it once in a CBU 7 Series ...

Mine Jpn Spec was with Grey Interior guess i might be lucky..

Cool thread. My ASC control unit is still down. Now i know when it is working, what will be indicated at the cluster. Anyway, that middle indicator in the cluster does not light up so even it is not ASC, i am not sure what I have there. I am still waiting for the unit to arrive, the dealer bought the DSC instead of the ASC. Mine is also 318i, 2002 CKD model.

I got a dumb question : What is the ASC for? When do you use it?

This is the answer for you which i copy from net:

DSC is a newer version of ASC traction control. Basically ASC only brakes the rear wheels during straight line acceleration to keep the wheels from spinning and losing traction. DSC combines those features with additional ability to individual brake each of the 4 wheels is slippage (oversteer/understeer) is sensed in a corner to bring you back in line.

For the enthusiast who likes to drive and knows how to drive, you're better off without it.
If you like to drive your car hard, be glad it does not have DSC. This way you have the safety of ASC without the intrusive nanny-ism of DSC. DSC likes to cut in and put and end to your fun just as you're starting to have some. So then you turn it off and are left without even the equivalent of ASC. It's totally a lawyer-inspired driving nanny. You really are better off without it.

Bro ichi82, the indicator should be around somewhere unless the previous owner removed it. Please refer to page 39 of the user manual mentioned earlier.

can it be near the HU?i saw red light blinking at that area when i switched on the alarm

owh yeah used to have the blinking light on the headunit as well when I still have it. Funny thing is that the blinking frequency are different between the two LEDs. Not sure if the blinking on radio is the same as alarm indicator.

Thanks Bro Alex5522 for the brief lesson in ASC and DSC. I read up a bit also. I guess I dont need this feature afterall.....hahahaha. But since salesman is paying, what the heck, get it installed....meaning I cant drive my UDM for a day or 2. Now is the good time to fix it as I am flying off until the weekend but the stock tadak at the moment, aduh!!!

better have it fixed bro..there might be times when u really would appreciate that it is working..otherwise there is no need for us to buy UDM.

S mode quite frequent, M mode not so frequent unless the auto get very confused (true when going down Genting at certain area, Bukit Tinggi is fine). Guess would be using the M mode more if I had the paddle shifter :smokin:

i noticed that i need to top up my oil frequently if i am using S/M mode..been trying to find out if there is any leaking but couldn't find any visible leakage..can we retrofit paddleshifter to our UDM?

I've also notice engine oil loss after spirited driving, once until the oil level warning came up on the cluster. Mine has minor leaking.

You need to retrofit the steering for the paddleshifter. Look at bro Fireuz DIY here http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/foru...Quicksilver...&p=596589&viewfull=1#post596589

tempting..how much for that? first just thought to changed my current sport steering to M steering but thats even better..but it must be damn expensive.maybe i hold on to this dream and get with paddleshifters coz my current sport multifunction steering is still fine..
