I just sold off my E46 328I last week and i am downgrading myself to driving Sonata. At the same time, i booked my new 525I. I do not know when i can get my car as the sales person told me i can get it b4 CNY. I told him specifically that i want 2006 model.I am a audio crazy person and very particular of the my car's sound system. i do not know whether the new 525i sound system is good. Anyone who has it can comment. I checked with other forum and found out that the BMW Hifi system is fantastic and the Logic 7 system is superb. However, in Malaysia, only 530i has Hifi system and 545i has Logic 7 system. I posted my question to BMW Malaysia that whether i can have my new car fitted with the Hifi system and the answer is NO. It is due the custom duty issue.I do not wish to risk it to upgrade outside BMW authorised dealer due to the fact that it will upset the i-drive system. I want to know did anyone upgrade his/her 525i sound system and without problem.Any comment from the new 525i owners.

I think the E60 525i M sport is just a tad over Rm400k. AB was flogging off old stock of brand new E60 M54 525i for RM360+k... Better buy than the new E60 523i valvy IMHO, but the 525i M sport valvy is the one to get la..
I wonder what specs parallel importers like Naza is bringing in for the E60's and the price range... Anyone know?

I know some have done upgrades outside of authorised dealers. The change primarily involved adding amps and change of speakers. The idrive part is not touched. So it's possible. The result may be even better than HiFi or Logic7 which IMHO are not worth the $. (I mean with that amount of $ one can get better setups; but then warranty is always going to be a concern)

Great choice of car!! I love the new 525i with M-kit. I thought the price is only RM408K? Has it gone up recently?
You'll be dispappointed to hear that there is not a whole lot of things you can do to the sound system or anything that touches the electronics of the car. The sound system will not measure up to your 328 for sure. The front door and rear speakers are punny 3" Nokia ones. But it has a small mid-sub woofer somewhere. I can't seem to locate it. It's either under the passeger seat (something looking like a vent hles there) or under the dashboard. The bass sound is somewhat lacking but the mid and high range are just ok. To get better bass, you will need to adjust the fader towards the front speakers more. If you set it in neutral or towards the back, it's even flater. And you have to crank up the volume for the bass to come out. But frankly, this still sounds better than the P911 standard sound system with all their 6 speakers!
The other thing you will have to put up with is the software that controls the sound system...it will go into mute for a few seconds every now and then when playing radio. Also when I play CDs (originals only) it sometimes jams and switches over to radio. I have sent it back for software upgrades but still problem is there. Same thing with my bluetooth phone which disconnects by itself way too often. Not funny!! Appaarently this is inherent in all new 5 series sold around the world.
Anyway, you will forgive the car's idiosyncrasies once you are behind the wheel. This car is truely a work of art!!

Did u do anything to your sound system? Will the dealer to undertake to upgrade and we still can keep the warranty intact.
We shld share more as we are having the some type of car.

Very long story. In a nutshell, end of 2004 I was lied to by the AB salesperson and given false information in colaoration with BMW Malaysia. Otherwise I will be driving the M-sports 525i today that you've bought instead of the "old" E60 525i. He also know that 523i is going to be available, but again, was conned that the price diff with be huge. At last, the price diff btw 523i and 520i is merely RM10k and worst still BMW discontinue the 520i model. And now, he is driving an under power car with lots of problem.
