Last Sunday I borrowed an F800R from a Beemerphile ( 5 Beemers in the garage) and rode up Genting Coffee Bean. On the way down I accompanied RM2.2 million worth of Italian hardware, two Ducati Desmosedicis ridden by MSS riders and one Ferrari driven by another track day / MSS racer. The F800R surprised me. And a number of others too.Part 1 of the video is from Coffee Bean to Awana1 F800R, 1 Ferrari F430 and 2 Ducati DesmosedicisUploading Part 2 now and will be linked tomorrow.

Here's Part 2. From Awana to Karak Hiway Intersection.
Not a hairy moment.......

Great bike with a very willing smooth parallel twin. Good power that is not intimidating for beginner riders. Very easy to go fast on. Takes very little time to get used to. Neutral steering characteristics but a little light at high speeds, definitely needs the steering damper. Great bike for sub 150kmh cornering. Ok for sweepers. I could not exceed 170km/h as I had the camera on top of my helmet so I don't know how it feels above that speed. Sufficient brakes but could do with better feel.
The bike also feels a little cramped and I think riders above 5'10" will not be comfortable on long trips. Perhaps a change of handlebars will give better riding position but that is only my opinion.

Cross winds does not blow it around much. A small windscreen would give the rider better comfort for high speed cruising.

Definitely worth the money given the brand name, features like ABS, and also the brand name of BMW.

Haven't ridden a big bike for quite a while.Last bike was a Suzuki GSX-R during my 737 co-pilot days,remember riding with u occasionally,to nasi lemak cikgu.Couldn't keep up with u on ur V100!!

Great stuff btw...

Capt.! u called that a 'little' faster? can't imagine the 'really' fast version..=) mayb wait till u hang on the F800GS handle bar...Be patient ya..it will arrive here next 2 weeks...demand was good till I find myself hardly get one to pick from my warehouse. Always customer first..

Fastly, I await with baited breath.....in the meantime I will be heaving a Harley Ultra Classic bagger touring bike through Ulu Yam and up to Genting this sunday. 380kg RM185K worth of American Iron powered by a 80hp 45 degree twin.

Tomorrow I've gotta select some American Country/ Folk music into the Ipod so my ride up will be more interesting....
