Hi,

Good to hear some satisfied customers as well as some dissatisfed ones in regard to refurbishing their interiors. In my field (I shouldn't mention it here) I have tried and tested numerous cushion and leather guys and I've come to one conclusion ... the real test for a leather shop is when you throw them vintage or classic cars to do a complete interior refurbishing which involves lots of redesigning/custom work or originality in design theme, very hard work and lots of brainstorming (go crazy at times), stitchwork-flow throughout the seats, original carpet laying with no bends/folds, smooth-flowing headlining using bars across (not today's hardboard .. this is easy) etc etc. That's why not many want to take on such jobs!

Honestly I can only vouch for 2 or 3 guys in the market but they too need some form of supervision when it comes to these old classics.

It's all in the detailing!!

hatish, I think it also depends on how discerning the client is..... Im not that anal and tend to be forgiving of workmanship at times.

I prefer to go on a 'overall' basis i.e. there may be one or two issues here and there but if overall I'm satisfied, I'm OK.

I also agree with your 'need supervision' point.... the issues in question viz my volvo could probably have been resolved with some supervision. But who has the time right?..... and I guess thats where you step in and offer your services (nice site by the way :yes

Steering wheel and gear knob work could be better - I heard carbi deco can do that but I suspect the 940 steering wheel design would be challenge to any upholstery guy . For these two items it is very dependant on workmanship coz done by hand so if in doubt do those bits with someone else.

My e30 is there now doing up ONE mtech sport seat (drivers side).... doing a pvc/fabric mix following ori styling.... fabric coz I dont feel like sliding all over the place when I drive ..... apparently recaro fabric will be used (yeah right!! .... whatever....) ... looking forward to it

350 dude..... I had hoped for maybe 300 or less but not possible.... apparently recaro cloth.... yeah right.... but its nice though ..... Ive heard someone say 250 possible for a seat somewhere in Kg Subang but .... anyway on the high side was Lucky in Tmn Mayang who wanted 450 ... daylight robbery!!

these guys are good..i've done my roof lining there..they use connoly leather for reupholster seats..but prepare to be on a long queue..they only have two workers..it takes 2 months to reupholster all the seats and door cards..

try wecolor.just when there to get the steering and seat dye.best of all 1 year warranty which no shops dare to give.

i stay along bdr kinrara, puchong and I know of only 2 excellent shops there though there are many.

About 2 years back, we organised a leather seat clinic and it was attended by about 20 forumers. It was definitely an eye opener. It was hosted by Carbideco. If there is demand, we can always organise something similar again. Carbideco even offered special discounts to club members. Prices of leather have gone up.

I did shop around yesterday for this for my E24. These are prices quoted for around a 3-5 days job to re-trim the roof.

1. Lucky@Jln Ampang RM 750
2. Central@Kepong RM750. I was told that the rear windscreen had to be removed, otherwise only RM500.
3. Yaps@Tmn Mayang RM650

What you guys think of the quoted prices? Fair or got other places which offer competitive price and service.
