Tufoil

anyone have experience using the oil additive "Tufoil" in BMWs?regards

Yup! Smooooooth!! More willing to rev and will rev higher faster. Some will argue that the PTFE contained in Tuffoil will enlarge with heat and clog your oil filter leading to bad oil circulation and kill your engine eventually. Me, I find that it works but if it worries you, try X1-R. It does not contain PTFE.

Tried both..X1-R and Tufoil...but I prefer TufOIL....the engine noticeable cooler and smoother....

is this a once only treatment or to be used at every oil change? wonder if anyone tried slick 50 and how does this compare with tufoil?cheers

hi,as far as using ptfe/teflon etc. in oil as an additive, [ls read the following links.have not used these as i basically dont trust these for the same reasons.http://www.vtr.org/maintain/oil-additives.htmlandhttp://skepdic.com/slick50.htmlfor your engine, pls dont use these products. Tufoil claimed to have the suspended PTFE like what bimmerman mentioned...The 'older' technology PTFE tends to collect at the kinks (corners) along the oil passage, causing it to clog in the long run.... But not sure about this claim on the suspended PTFE...

ptfe/teflon is a DuPont licensed/manufactured item. if they do not recommend it for this purpose, dont use it. if these are so good, the car manufacturers would have recommended it as an option, or ok it for use in the engine/gearbox.the most i would dare is to use some in the rear axle where it is not as hot, and can't do any harm as the clearances are large.

Anyway, I won't be using any oil additives for my BMW... too much of a gamble for so little a benefit. IMHO, you can't go much wrong by using good oil and oil filter with frequent and regular oil and oil filter changes.

Yah agree with that I use to try all this additives but I think its a waste
of money and it usually claims it will do these and that. What I do now is
I stick to a good fully synthetic motor oil and change them every 10K.

as to the purpose of the thread.....i find tht X-1R is better then tuffoil.
not just bcoz they were our sponsor for our race team but bcoz it works!
i've been using them for over 2 years now and hav had no problems at all.
testament to tht is when we raced at pasir gudang.we blew our gasket in mid race(4 laps to go)and could still run albeit with a powerloss tell the chequered flag!normally if u blow ur gasket ur car wont even budge much after some distance!
i hav been using their engine treatment,petrol treatment and the manual tranny treatment is effective too!

fabian.....so far how is the manual tranny treatment?notice any improvements at all?

Tyke, you forgot about their auto treatment (or is that they don't have one). Although your's a manual, maybe you know of someone using it in an auto transmi
