i just came back from the potong show room.... first of all the hatch back "door" is not user friendly liao, i tried to close it because i want to have a look at the back of this savvy; it almost injured my finger, because u see there is actually no place for u to hold the "door", so......
another thing, the door handles, wah lau eh, maybe my fingers are too big lah, it is quite small lah......

the interior wise, i am quite sure more space for the rear seats in myvi....

i think the "save we(proton)" will lose badly........

U know wat the Proton salesman just told me at the showroom? "We design (copy) the Savvy's headlight base on the new bmw 5 series... blah blah blah".

Just came back from the showroom. While the design is inspiring, the quality of the plastics in the cockpit is crap! The door panels are just one piece of injection moulding & feels thin & hollow. Space-wise, the Myvvi beats it hands down. Overall,I think the Perodua is a better car, at least from the static display I saw. Maybe they drive better with Lotus input and all. best of luck Proton!

Wah, you guys are really so enthusiastic. Firefox, no surprises on the cardboard-like quality. If I have the time this weekend (brother's wedding lah..), I'll drive wifey's myvi down to the biggest Edar showroom to check out the savvy!

Just back from the PE showroom.

Personally I found the Savvy disappointing.

The launch package makes available just 3 colours to choose from, one transmission (manual) and one engine (1.2L) variant. The Myvi has 7, 2 and 2 respectively and in addition throws in ABS and twin airbag options which the Savvy does not even offer.

Space wise, the Myvi wins again

Savvy has the advantage on price though, 43k vs 51k although not apples and apples here since the Proton has no airbag and ABS option.

And customer perception? Lets not even go there.

Myvi beats Savvy 6 1/2 to 1/2 by my count.

I concur with wkwoo69, the Myvi will kick the Savvy's butt sales wise.

Oh and the Savvy showroom unit has wind up manual windows at the rear...

savvy looks darn sporty... think this car has very good potential with the younger crowd..

Savvy is using the old Renault Clio 1.2 engine, SOHC 16V without variable valve timing. I will go with the MyVi!

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE PROTON SAVVY

Toughest production Proton bodyshell ever made
Capable of 3 stars in EuroNCAP crash test methods
Drive-by-wire throttle
4-lamp halogen bulb headlight
3-year warranty for power window system
10,000 kms service/oil change interval
20,000 kms oil filter change interval
Clutchless manual transmission to be offered in 3 months  (gonna be like a sequential-type gearbox???)

I kinda like the idea of it having a drive-by-wire throttlebody. :p

IMO, I think the TRM should give us better value as it is more 'Malaysian' made as compared to the Myvi. In a sense, a larger percentage of our payment will be channelled to Toyota/Daihatsu for their design and parts if we were 2 purchase the Myvi... :D

After all, the TRM has a 1.2 litre powerplant which is the median of the range offered by the Myvi....

just my 2cents....

tho its just 2 floors down my office, i don hevta visit the showroom (but cant help to catch a glimpse each time i walk up my office), i cld get all the reviews in ere, heh, preety interestin facts :D :p

I went to Mutiara Damansara yesterday...here's a few pics of Savvy R3 concept car...

This is the end and demise of Proton. (unless they start assembling Volkswagon and brand it as proton with Volks Consultants and Engineering team)

MYVI looks feels and perceive at light years ahead.

Saw the car at the showroom today.

Look better resolved than Gen-2. Quality of plastic parts and others is appreciably better.

Still some nagging design problems such as door handles to small, can only open the boot from the driver's level etc. And the space is small.

My main worry is the Renault engine.

Clutchless manual transmission

Hmm, I would prefer they be equipped with rear disc brakes, ABS, EBD and airbags before putting in all these exotic stuffs... but then proton is proton.

It looks good (but then so was Tiara). So, I will wait to see the second hand value after one yr. Then you know whether they got it right.

The R3 version looks nice.

But normal Savvy also can turn into this R3 with those bodykit fitted to it, maybe it will be even better :)

Somehow the ugly backside turn to be quite nice in that R3 concept, black really make it looks good.

I actually dislike MyVi a little, with the design of it. But attracted by its engine ... 1.3L, DDVT .. well it turn me on.

But when I look at Savvy, I like its design (R3 even better), but the engine really turn me off ... Wondering can I switch Savvy engine with MyVi engine ?
