zaki444, story la sikit on wish.

my concerns:

1. rear aircond
2. hard seats for rear passengers
3. FC
4. rear windows - must change to clear glass?
5. price? where the best place for good deals? can intro to outlets?
6. servicing? easy to find parts? parts cost? easy to maintain?

also let me know which model you have, the 1.8/2.0 and what should I look for? what are the diff variants for example.

TQ :D

Alamak Affan. Long story lah but here goes.

1. Rear aircon (or rather the lack of it) is one huge minus point of the Wish but if u have the front blowers correctly tilted, then those occupying the 3rd row will probably feel the aircon within 5 minutes. Still, its not much help if your car is parked in the blazing sun and you drive off at 2pm. The Stream with the rear aircon blower is still a better option.

2. I've taken the Wish on long distance drives and the family has no complaints on the rear seats (err...maybe coz I told them to shut up!).

3. FC - Long distance at a consistent 110-130km/h will get you 15-16km/l. Doing 150-170km/h will see it go down to 13-14km/l. Urban driving (the Jln Sultan Ismail madness on a daily basis) I get an average of between 11.8- 12.5km/l.

4. Rear windows - Mine came from the very first ever batch of 30 units that landed on our shores in May 2003 (Naza PJ). What Naza did was swapped the private glass for clear glass when they send it for Puspakom inspection. After the inspection, you can either retain the clear or revert to the dark ones. I was happy to go clear. I could've switched to private glass but knowing our JPJ, they may one day just decide to do an Operasi Gelap and I'll end up having to spend a lot more buying a new set of clear ones

5. Apparently, UMW is planning to bring in the Thai CBU 2.0 models (the folks at Wish Club Malaysia affectionately dub it Tom Yam Wish). We've seen the specs and the 2.0 that UMW is bringing is far inferior to the JDM 2.0. Go for the JDM. Strongly recommend Sushi Wish over Tom Yam Wish. Quite frankly, the 1.8 is good enough lah.

6. Servicing is a non issue. The 1.8 shares the same engine as the Altis. I've had my 1.8 for close to 3 years and total maintenance expenditure has not even touched RM2k. And nothing else has given way. In contrast, my e46 power window lifter both sudah koyak. Adoi!

7. The Wish had a facelift earlier this year (or was it late last year). A brand new facelifted version currently goes at around RM166-170k but with the recent revision, it may have gone up by another 10k or so. You cant go wrong with any recon 2004 models. Quite a lot of outlets sell the Wish so do scout around. Oh....and in case you're wondering, the LX Mode/Wald Wish etc is merely a major bullsh!t rebadging/tambah local bodykit exercise. Nothing more.

The achilles heel of owning a Wish is that its a hot car. The cops tell me that an average of 10 Wish disappear every month in Klang Valley alone. So, an alarm and immobiliser, while not 100% full proof may just delay car thieves. :(

There's not much to chose between the Steam n Wish really. The 3rd row legroom was the deciding factor for me. The floor board of the Wish was a lot lower. At 5' 11", my son's height swung the decision. Plus I do think the Wish looks better. But thats personal lah.

Call me lah kalau you are really serious about it. Oh....now u owe me one teh tarik. Heehee.... :p :D

i'll give you two teh tarik la bro... no hal.
thanks for the info.

let me go and change now and go scout around for a wish. hehehe... also considering the Mazda 5.. with 3 years' warranty some more.

Browsed WCM and saw the few postings on Wish stolen. sucks man.. :( take care dude.

Oh btw bundy, heard UMW is bringing in the 2.0 cbu thai next month. 160+k.

the CKD model will not come with a sunroof nor bodykit... so, pricey some more... and do expect a 3-6 months' wait.

the local Wish might even come with ionisers, massage chair and other unnecessary accessories.

Not sure about rear aircond vents though.

A couple of Toyota Wish dealers told me that the clear glass is inferior made-in-China glass masquerading as original Toyota clear glass. They also said that these Chinese glass are interim measures used purely for JPJ inspection purposes. I leave it to you guys to draw your own conclusions.

Do you guys think that there will be a new Wish coming out (next year) since Honda's new Stream is coming out next year?
