It all depends on your current differential ratio. Most if not all the time our BMW will not be able to fully utilise the gearing ratio given.
I have replaced mine from 3.64 to 3.91 giving me close to a 8% increase in usable torque and yet there is no sacrifice in top speed. There is no other mod that gives you such bang for the buck. The idea is not to overdo it
