I am suspecting the central console was opened before and the wiring wasn't connected back when putting back the mid console.

Both switches operate 2 discreetly unrelated items and should not be such a coincidence that both unrelated items fail at one go.

agree with AB. yank them out and see if wires are plugged onto the switches.

From BMW WDS,

The Hazard and Central Locking share the same ground - pin 2 (see pic below)

Here is a picture of the Hazard and Central Locking Switch remove.

Remove the switch and make a jumper from pin 5 to any part of body (like the door metal part). If the central door close or open, then you might have a grounding problem.

Here is the function of the switch pin out.

Chances as pointed out by Astro, it could be a lose connector.

jarance, nobody can post a more comprehensive explaination than yours.. :top:

Oh yeah, just realize that you can also check the grounding. There is a console light on the PB. When you turn on the low/high beam switch, the LED will glow. It will turn brighter or dimmer when you turn the dimmer dial. if it does not, then it is definitely the grounding or connector.

nice xplaination..

Hi All,

The problem solved :41:

See the picture below, broken plastic is the culprit
