A note about DK Schweizer's workmanship and choice of foam materials. From firsthand experience, it is all much ado about nothing. The foam used to line the underneath of the leather was of inferior quality to say the least. I sent my vehicle, an E39 CBU which came with gray leather interior into the factory to have my leather upholstery rewrapped in respect of the seats both front and rear together with the 4 door panels. The sum I was charged was quite a handsome amount of RM2,500-00. After having being showed a tour of the factory I noticed that all they had stocked were the inferior sparse foams of lower grade quality. Whilst I may not be a foam expert, the look touch and feel of it suggests that it would not have the ability to spring back into shape once weight/pressure is applied onto it in the form of a passenger. Concerned, I enquired with the staff and the reply was “this is all we have”. Now, I also made a request to have less wrinkles on the leathers and to have the seats uplifted with sufficient support of layers of foam in light of my observation since the foam I saw was very likely to lose its shape and would have to be decked sufficiently to give the seat a bounce. I was repeatedly assured by the staff on hand who stated then that they would “do it up like original”, the quote in verbatim. Not completely satisfied, I pressed for some assurance about how they are going to wrap the foam underneath the specific thigh/leg support for my driver’s and passenger seat and the reply was again “can do wan, they can wrap very nicely to give the support”. The deposit was paid, the request for less wrinkles written on the Customer’s Details and Order Form and on the appointed day I sent my car to the factory and would be informed when it is complete and ready for collection. The following day when I visited the factory with great anticipation, I discovered to my utter disappointment the seats were no different than when I sent them in to the factory except for the new leather. I sunk into my seats, quite literally and with no pun intended. It was also discovered that 2 of the door leather panels were haphazardly placed into its allotted place leaving the corners jutting out which with a slight pull easily removed the entire panelling. My other dismay was that the coin box on my E39 with a slider cover was broken, presumably under a palm’s pressure as they removed or whilst installing back the front seats. Questions were directed at them on how there was no difference Before and After in respect of cushioning support and was given the reply “oh all the cars we do are like this what”. Unsatisfied, I probed on whether they know of materials known as foam rubber used in rewrapping seats since they are in this industry and was told that the foam they had lying in voluminous quantity around the warehouse is the only material they know. Unconvinced, I suggested that I would purchase the material to the best of my knowledge which I could source and then to have them place underneath the leather upholstery for support upon my return. A short trip later after having found the material much like a yoga mat rubberfoam, I returned in the afternoon to hand them the same and requested to have it cut to size and placed underneath the leathers of my seats. Time for completion, tomorrow morning. On the following day, I called at their premise to hopefully collect my car but to my dismay found that not only was it not even attended to, the inner cover of my driver’s side of door was completely removed with wirings’ disconnected from the window/central lock removed. The reason was they broke my door open lever. Utterly unbelievable the workers they hire. At the present time of my writing, I have to wait to tomorrow noon to collect my vehicle. I confirmed and had a verbal confirmation from their female staff that tomorrow noon would be the final deadline and there would be no more delays. To have been assured delivery within a day has now stretched to 4 days with uncertainty as yet if 4 days is what is required to repair and replace the broken parts and to install the rubber foam. It is utterly disappointing and an experience which none of you should be privy to. I am writing this with no malice intended but to serve as an indication of the less than expected quality of work which their website boasts of. It is alas not what it seems from the website all that they boast themselves to be in terms of quality. http://www.dk-schweizer.com/dk_schweizer/aboutus.htm
